I think I saw this on Twitter before, but I can’t find the files. Has anyone printed these before?
It's resin if it's Dennis. He makes a lot of stuff for the community, most of which are from scratch; sometimes he uses Wesk's 3D models for reference. He recently finished the full Neo Geo AES shell. He also made the CPS2 Cap covers and I'm almost positive it's him cause of the backdrop and his arm. https://www.printables.com/@RetroGameRevival/modelsThis looks more like injection molding to me instead of 3D printing. This is a pretty large and complicated object and the pictures shown don't have the typical characteristics that would show as a normal 3D print (layer lines for FDM, sagging and support pock marks for UV resin, and no grainy surface associated with SLS).
My guess is someone either somehow got their hands on the original mold, or they recreated their own.
I could be wrong since the photo quality isn't great and it's very difficult to pick out details with a white object, but the overall shape is large and complex enough that I don't think it makes sense to 3D print this, so I'm fairly confident in my guess.
Confirmed. I asked him and confirmed it was him, Dennis. He hasn't finished it yet but is super close. He had to pause cause after 4 revisions, it got too expensive to continue. He's getting these protos made by some other company and something of this size is not cheap. So for now, it's on pause and only the top is nearly complete. Bottom hasn't been started yet, from my understanding.I think I saw this on Twitter before, but I can’t find the files. Has anyone printed these before?
I think he made it for someone else. I remember seeing it like two years ago.Is that Dennis' arm? Looks like it. I know him if it is.

If it’s not mass-produced, you can use silicone molding. It’s way cheaper than making a hard mold, but one mold won’t last very long.Confirmed. I asked him and confirmed it was him, Dennis.
