Hi all,

I’m currently working on integrating a Point Blank 3 (Namco System 10) setup into a cabinet that was previously converted to Point Blank 2, and I’m trying to verify whether the EXIO(G) board I have is functioning correctly.

Current setup

  • PB3 stack with:
    • MAIN(M) PCB 8906960402
    • EXIO(G) PCB 8906970602
  • Cabinet uses Suzo-Happ .45-cal Type 2 guns (6-wire configuration)
  • I’ve adapted the wiring to interface with the EXIO board:
    • Trigger lines confirmed working (via JAMMA)
    • Sensor lines routed to J8 (gun opto header)
    • Power, ground, and returns mapped and verified
    • Composite sync identified and injected

Current behavior

The system is partially functional, but not correct:

  • Game boots, sound works, inputs register
  • Trigger pulls produce screen flash and gun SFX
  • Hits register, but only at the center of the screen
  • Guns do not track movement at all
  • Some odd cross-interaction between players (e.g. holding one trigger affects the other)
  • Player 2 start became intermittent after rewiring (likely secondary issue)

What I’m trying to determine

At this point, I’m trying to isolate whether:

  1. I still have something wrong in my wiring/configuration
    or
  2. My EXIO(G) board itself is faulty or partially degraded

I’ve done a significant amount of signal tracing on J1 and confirmed:

  • Sensor inputs are reaching the board (via J8 → J1)
  • Trigger inputs are reaching the system (JAMMA side)
  • Sync is present on a candidate pad (~3.8V DC average)
  • GOUT behavior is observable in output test

Given all of that, the “center-only” behavior strongly suggests a timing / processing issue on the EXIO side, which is why I’m looking for a comparison board.

Ask

  • Does anyone have a known-good EXIO(G) board (8906970602 / 8906961602) for sale?
  • Alternatively, has anyone encountered similar “center-locked gun” behavior on System 10 and can confirm whether it was board failure vs wiring?

If needed, I can provide detailed measurements, pin mapping, and photos of my board and setup.

Appreciate any help—this project is very close, and I’m trying to determine whether I’m chasing a wiring issue or a hardware issue at this point.

Thanks!

I’ve got a PB3 board as pictured below, if you want better pics of components on it let me know 👍

After all my years of collecting, I saw my first PB3 cab in the wild the other day, at a free play arcade.

I'd never seen one in person....and I've got 3 pcbs each of PB1 and PB2.

I have a feeling you're in for a tough time here.....but I am hoping beyond hope for you.
