You, sir, finally did it. If this is real, you've done what nobody else who looked at it to this point could do. I bow down to the master.After a complete gameplay review, I believe the game is fully functional.
I essentially used the original driver m1 and the original sound effects PCM files, remapping the driver with the offsets for a concatenated file.
Zintrix always uses two slots for sound effects, which are always loaded into the same workspaces.
Instead, I built v1 by concatenating all the effects into a 4MB v1 and remapped the memory address,to do this I had to add an auxiliary routine to manage the page.
I generated all the audio tracks in PCM and changed the commands in m1 to have unique z80 commands and some aliases, which becomes v2, v3, v4.
On a positive note, all the sound effects and the driver are original.
The tracks were all included, only two were cut.
It was easy with NGFX SoundBuilder, build a temporary driver, and the PCM files for the sound tracks.
Then I swapped the commands to avoid overlapping and copied the length into the PCM in the original m1.
Linear MVS V-ROM layout of v1:
SW00.PCM -> offset 0x000000, size 0x080000,
SW01.PCM -> offset 0x080000, size 0x040000,
SW02.PCM -> offset 0x0c0000, size 0x040000,
SW03.PCM -> offset 0x100000, size 0x040000,
SW04.PCM -> offset 0x140000, size 0x040000,
SW05.PCM -> offset 0x180000, size 0x040000,
SW06.PCM -> offset 0x1c0000, size 0x040000,
SW07.PCM -> offset 0x200000, size 0x040000,
SW08.PCM -> offset 0x240000, size 0x040000,
SW09.PCM -> offset 0x280000, size 0x040000,
SW10.PCM -> offset 0x2c0000, size 0x040000,
SW11.PCM -> offset 0x300000, size 0x040000,
SW12.PCM -> offset 0x340000, size 0x040000,
Last test on real hardware and extended gameplay with more pg ending.
I’m testing on real hardware, all working fine but I have one last stupid problem.. neo geo logo sound from original z80 m1 and sound sample play wrong !You, sir, finally did it. If this is real, you've done what nobody else who looked at it to this point could do. I bow down to the master.
This is not a new driver, but a modification of the original one, all the effects are taken 1:1 from the CD and the tracks converted and added.You, sir, finally did it. If this is real, you've done what nobody else who looked at it to this point could do. I bow down to the master.
How did you use the original driver with your own misic recordings? Did you use NGFX Soundbuilder at all?This is not a new driver, but a modification of the original one, all the effects are taken 1:1 from the CD and the tracks converted and added.
Fixed the last problem on jingle, i finish the game with two PG and all seems work fine.
Stay tuned.
For simplicity, I created a temporary driver by importing only the new audio tracks into SoundBuilder.How did you use the original driver with your own misic recordings? Did you use NGFX Soundbuilder at all?
Fantastic work as always. Thank you. Exactly what I hoped for, I think. Now if someone could do that for Crossed Swords 2 to preserve the sfx.For simplicity, I created a temporary driver by importing only the new audio tracks into SoundBuilder.
Then I generated v2, v3, and v4. After inspecting the newly created m1, I placed the indexes and modified the commands.
Essentially, the useful part is assigning the correct z80 command, offset, and length of the tracks in the v ROMs. This is the simplified explanation.
This is because I had to keep all the sound effects and the routines to calculate the sound effects pages.
I'll take a look, I think the Razoola bootleg has already been heavily patched so it will need to be restored to the original to start from a solid base.Fantastic work as always. Thank you. Exactly what I hoped for, I think. Now if someone could do that for Crossed Swords 2 to preserve the sfx.
check on main thread.Good evening, great work, what you achieved some had also tried years ago but no project had succeeded.
