I'm sure this will immediately miff some people because of how well respected ArcadeShock is, but in this case I really feel they fell short.

I ordered a pack of SEIMITSU PS-14-G buttons for my new Vewlix FC. Well, after it got sent out - I noticed that while I put in the correct ZIP CODE, it autocompleted the wrong city. Well, they ended up changing the zip too, so the USPS would not be able to catch the issue.

I contacted them as soon as I noticed this issue and they told me the best they can do for me is wait for USPS to deliver the buttons back to them and have me pay for shipping again.. It's been over a week since USPS sent the buttons back and they're saying they never got them, and I can't get anything done because this is 100% my fault (despite the zip getting changed from what I put in.)

So yeah - a minor auto complete issue has resulted in my order being completely lost and Arcade Shock telling me to kick dirt.

Won't buy from them again.

I can't prove it but I swear I put in the right city too. I had the same problem with @Hadouken Arcade's checkout and Arcade Shock has the same system.
I can, however prove I put in the right zip and they confirmed it on their end.

Difference is Hadouken got back to me in time to fix the issue and handled it like a champ.

Wow, that sucks. Was it priority mail/insured? What does usps tracking say?

Returned to sender, no return tracking. :(

EDIT: I also wanted to add, I agreed to pay for a re-ship right away thinking it'd go right out, especially since the tracking says it's being sent back. However, they're being strict about waiting for the buttons to be returned as if I'm pulling some sort of scam.

Give it a few more days, sometimes that return to sender takes a while, sometimes 2-3weeks or more in some cases.

If it was priority mail, they should be able to claim something still from the post office, but that's a process and also takes a while.

But yeah, give them some time to get it back or file a claim and see if they help you with a replacement order or some type of credit/refund, even if partial.

Good luck and I hope it gets resolved.

When you say two instances of "autocomplete" here, are you placing orders using a mobile phone?

I'm making an assumption of address autocorrect/autocomplete on their end because I'm fairly certain I put in the correct address entirely (as in I typed it out correctly) - the confirmation I got has the correct zip and incorrect city, and the eventual mailing address did NOT go to the zip I typed and was in my confirmation email. (Just to be crystal clear, the zip code the package got sent to never appeared in any email I got.)

So I don't know where they use autocompletes/autocorrects.

paradise is a good alternate option
Paradise is the worst option. Lots of threads on issues over the years, and always a weird blame circle. I've had issues with every order but one, and honestly they're REAL rude on the phone :/

AS often misses items in my orders, but they've always taken care of it on their dime. Sounds like they're being a pain for you though. Hopefully it all comes through.

I actually was out of state last week and ordered from a site that had my address saved to my account to auto-fill. Though the store transaction system auto-detected the state I was in and replaced my address state with the state it detected I was in and could not place the order because my state's zip code didn't match the state I was currently in...

"Helpful" checkouts aren't helpful ||

Are the two city names so close that autocomplete could conceivably get them confused? I don't understand how the city could be wrong if the zip is right? Doesn't autocomplete do it all in one step? like take a full address and fill it out once you select the first matching piece of data?

sorry you're going through annoyance, but let's also remember that shipping is largely out of seller's control. Right now supply chains and regular consumer shipping is waaaaay delayed and overall congested. It might still show up later or it might have actually legitimately gotten lost in the mail. In that case, I don't blame the shop for not sending out another set of buttons. They don't know where the first set is other than they sent it where the order told them to.

ive bought from them like 14 times and always got the right stuff. sucks u had shitty experience with them. they got the nice butteroj 38mm balltops i love so much.

Oy vey.

They seem adamant that even if they had sent the package as requested, I'd still be 100% at fault. And I'm still not positive I entered the city wrong to begin with.

@KaPH33n They altered the zip code from what I entered making it "correct" and thus undeliverable to me.

Hi [REDCATED]

We sent you a screenshot of what you entered. Did you not see the screenshot? You entered [REDCATED], NOT [REDCATED], which is why you asked us to change it, but we could not do so on time. We explained this to you in the first reply and that most likely the package would be returned to us, which is where we're at.

The zip code does NOT matter if it doesn't match the city. We'll explain again. If it doesn't match, USPS will NOT deliver the package, because they do not know whether the city is correct or the zip code is correct. Does that make sense? How can USPS catch this if they're unsure what is right or wrong? USPS is so busy, they simply don't have the time to fix most issues. We'll be frank about that.

As we said, we will resolve this and have it resent. We have updated your address in our system (for the label) when the package comes back.

Regards

AS Team

My reply:
I understand.. and do you see how the screenshot shows a zip code you didn't ship to?

There is also Focus Attack as an alternative option? I haven't heard of negative feedback for them.

If all of these vendors don't help you out, let me know and I can work something out to send you the Seimitsu buttons despite any international shipping.
All the best, hope it gets resolved super quick.

Final note for now. I've let them know I no longer want the buttons and just a refund, their response is that they will... once the buttons arrive back, the obvious implication being that if USPS fucks up I'm going to be out of my money for a mistake that is minimally partially their fault and potentially 100% their fault.

I will never buy from them again and will advise people to AVOID in future!

Is Vinh still the man there, great guy to deal with, you seem very upset it would be worth a chat with him.

+1 I’ve never had problems with Focus Attack.

i would say that it's not unusual that shops holds the return until they don't receive the package.. it happened to me at least twice (with akishop and with SMJ).

With SMJ I had to wait for over a year until the issue was resolved... package travelled to Germany, then back to Japan and then back to Germany (bouncing between customs and postal service).. Actually if they would have returned me the money, I would have had the money and the package (since I did manage to get the package in the end)

Unfortunately I've had a similar problem with their customer service. They sent me the wrong quantity on a portion on my order and flat out refused to work with me even after I sent pics of the received package and compared to the original purchase order. They were adamant that their team checks and verifies quanities for orders over $100 before shipping and just didn't want to either send me the missing items or refund me in any way. It's a shame because I've given AS plenty of business over the years (which they could've easily seen in my order history) yet they decide to be petty af about a matter of $30 or so. I had never had an issue with them prior because they never messed up my order up to that point but god forbid if/when they do bc judging by this kind of response it's never gonna be their fault if something goes wrong.

I won't do business with them anymore, there's plenty of other vendors out there for arcade parts with much better customer support.

Yep, I've heard this line too. Just "we're infallible" as an excuse. They've always ended up doing the right thing in the end in my cases, but they're annoying to deal with at times.

once the buttons arrive back
I can't think of a business outside of Amazon that handles returns any differently. Everyone refunds upon receipt of the returned package, not before. Not really something to hold against AS in particular.
