PICKnMIX Fix: A tiny PCB for Neo Geo that automatically enables PICKnMIX on Universe Bios 4.0

Are you using a Supergun of some sort? Maybe it has a resistor pack or something which is causing the Trinket to think a button is pressed?

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

@rewrite Sorry for your loss, been though something simlar a few years ago - still hard I'm on the waiting list, unsure if its worth noting now but; XenoCrisis - Just bought the Neo Geo ROM from Bitmap Bureau site :) Donor (MVS) Cart - I have a spare v3 161, but might not make sense shipping...

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

Late to thread (was following the reverse engineering thread) - looks like this list might be closed now but if there is a waiting list, please put me down for a MVS cart.

Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

This is most awesome. Should this become 'a service' that some with the skillz might offer, will it be limited to certain versions of the 161in1 carts?

PICKnMIX Fix: A tiny PCB for Neo Geo that automatically enables PICKnMIX on Universe Bios 4.0

Yup, works great. I had a problem initially so i wanted a visual indictor if it was holding the start button or not, so I shifted the input from Pin1 to Pin2 and used the onboard indictor LED (believe it needs to act as Pin1?) to show when Start is being held down. Again, the fear of screen...

PICKnMIX Fix: A tiny PCB for Neo Geo that automatically enables PICKnMIX on Universe Bios 4.0

Thanks @GeorgeSpinner ! My original Arthrimus mod just wasn't working anymore so I checked this thread and noticed your solution. No fear of screen burn-in from the 161-in-1 basic menu if the cab was turned on and forgotten by the kids :)

High resolution photo of the back of a Neo-Geo NEO-AES mainboard?

Hey imbord3rlin3, Thank you for the offer but i'm sorted for now - I think 'pro pow 3' refers to the PSU, the pow 3 is for the later 9V console and mine is a 5V unit.

AES headphone socket - might someone know the mfg/part number?

Seems it something that people normally damage or lop off the console. Might use a panel mount socket like this

Cheers for the link. I checked the data sheet and I don't think that lines up. The hunt continues!

High resolution photo of the back of a Neo-Geo NEO-AES mainboard?

Mod wires removed and traces fixed. Also removed those random caps from the bottom of the board. Also needed to replace some of the RAM, namely 2x CXK5864BSP-70L and 2x CXK5814P-35L and then it all sprang into life! Just need to figure out screws for it now :) Caps ordered as it's prob worth...

High resolution photo of the back of a Neo-Geo NEO-AES mainboard?

Thanks for the tips and photo - that board might be a later revision but shows that the Neo-Geo units tended not to have random bodges apart from that additional PCB power fix I've seen around the 'nets. Plan - once I get a video cable + PSU I do as you suggest, I will document the wire bodges...

High resolution photo of the back of a Neo-Geo NEO-AES mainboard?

I've removed the following already, the JAMMA edge connector PCB as well as the audio/RGB/control wiring from the internals I will need replacement screws as whomever did these mods didn't reinstall the screws holding the mainboard down nor the case closed. Any insight into what screws I might...

High resolution photo of the back of a Neo-Geo NEO-AES mainboard?

Suppose it would make sense to share a photo of the bodge wires and random caps - they all look related to the JAMMAifying of the board, want to check with another working NEO-AES owner before undoing
