Hi,

For the tech savvy out here: is it possible to convert a Naomi SUN PSU from (input) 100-120v to 220v ?

Would replacing the cap filter 'only' (higher voltage tolerance) would make it ?

Here is the cap list for the Naomi SUN PSU (400-5317-01 model number):
C5 – 680uF 200V (Filter Cap)
C9 – 47uF 50V
C14 – 22uF 50V
C15 – 10uF 50V
C17 – 1uF 50V
C18 – 2.2uF 50V
C19 – 4.7uF 50V
C21 – 1000uF 10V
C23 – 220uF 25V
C24 – 3.3uF 50V
C25 – 330uF 16V
C28 – 2200uF 10V
C29 – 2200uF 10V
C31 – 2200uF 10V
C32 – 2200uF 10V
C34 – 4.7uF 50V
C35 – 2200uF 10V
C36 – 2.2uF 50V
C37 – 0.47uF 50V
C38 – 3.3uF 50V
C41 – 10uF 50V

Remind me of converting dreamcast PSU from 100-120v to 220v... for some models, replacing the filter cap by another with higher voltage tolerance is the only thing to do, but on another model, you have to replace the filter cap and some resistors...

Thanks !

Yeah sometimes you have to replace other components on the AC input side like the bridge rectifier/diodes if not the correct rating, I don't think anyone has done it to one of these or reverse engineered one to find out what's needed. Either way, by the time you faff around with all that you arguably might be better off just replacing with a ATX PSU anyway (with appropriate adapter loom).
I realise you didn't ask for an alternative but this thread may be worth a read regarding replacement

Ok thanks.

I just acquired a Naomi SUN PSU to power a netdimm Naomi setup. I was using an ATX PSU with it for now, but i have issues on one of the RAM slot... so to be on the safe side i will replace it with the SUN PSU.
I plan to recap the SUN PSU in the near future, that's why i created this topic.
