What's new
I'm having alot of sound issues as well. To name a few, the ffight, strider, sf2hfu, and sf2ce files all load and work for me, but the music will just stop and start a little later if I keep playing the game. All my dips are set to off, do we have to change them every time we switch games? Thanks

Are you able to load Muscle Bomber or Musclebomber Duo and Slammasters?

Guys, please post the following along with the issues you are reporting:

Game - Dip Settings - Issue
A board type (crystal speed used) & C board model numbers

Most games work with default dip settings, but some require specific settings, is the nature of the A board/games

It would help tremendously for the people providing support and would be greatly appreciated.

DIP settings:
00000000
11000000
00000110
C Board being used: 92641CA1 (an unmodified board that I desoldered the battery from)
A Board being used: 89626A-4 12mhz Dash
SD card is the one offered by highscoresave
Files unzipped and transferred using a PC

Main issues seeing are:
-Not able to hear audio on CPS 1.5 games through JAMMA edge
-Unable to load Muscle Bomber, Musclebomber Duo or Slammaster games, result is a blank screen or a error code
-Various games do not coin up using a service switch though I assume that may be normal for the game and requires a coin switch if not set to freeplay

Are you actually starting the game to verify there's no audio? Some games default to no sound in attract with those dip settings, and some default to having sound in attract.

EDIT: Also I have no idea how those dip settings affect CPS 1.5 games as I don't have the multi yet. CPS 1.5 games use a service menu instead of dip switches, but I wonder if maybe they still read from them and it causes problems. It would be sort of wack if the standard default dips for most CPS1 games cause problems on CPS 1.5

Yes, I am coining up and then playing usually a couple minutes just to make sure.

Multimeter from Qsound solder point to underside of Qsound jumper pin where wire connects tests as a good connection.

Ok, I'm using an
89626A-4 "A"board 12Mhz
92641C-1 "C" board
dips are now set to
00000000
11000000
00000110
Ffight now seems to work fine, strider seems fine also, sf2ce and sf2hfu are better, but i still lose background music on Blanka's stage (on both games), I didn't complete the game so i can't say about the other stages. And yes, I loaded and played Muscle Bomber and Slam Masters without issue. I also played Punisher to the end with no issues.

Anyone have (or working on) a full list of factory dip switch settings?

I noticed the first pin on the left side of the Z80 is bent. Is this intentional? Only did a limited amount of testing, seems to be functional so far.

its not supposed to be, bend it back and seat the chip properly, that's one of the address bus pins I think.

-Was able to reverse the LCD cable. I had thought it would only insert the one way, there's no mention of the order in the manual so maybe this doesn't affect performance either.
What? Can you send a picture of the cable?
Just trying to figure out what else I might be doing as to why the CPS 1.5 has no JAMMA sound and Slammasters and variants do not load.

The CPS 1.5 volume knob seems to adjust volume levels when using RCA plugs, but does not currently affect sound through JAMMA edge. In the manual it talks about that knob being used for CPS 1.5 volume through JAMMA edge though.
The two issues from above happen exactly when you havent changed the PAL in the A Board or you gor the wrong one. Sorry for the noob question but did you insert it properly. Can you post a picture?

Definitely check that and check that the Switch on the center-top of the PCB is set to OFF or ON depending on your C board.

That is not OK. Well spotted.

Here are a couple photos of my install with PAL, cables, and C board with switch to ON and one of DIP settings. Maybe there is something obvious I overlooked.

I tried putting the original PAL back in, but then no other CPS 1.5 games load (just to make sure I was using the new one)

With the new PAL, all CPS 1.5 will load except Musclebomber/Slammaster games. Though no CPS 1.5 games have audio through JAMMA edge. Also here is a screenshot of the address error when loading a Musclebomber game.

The LCD cables seem fine, both orig cable and extension cable are pinned the same way and I have the red wire on top.

It looks good. Send me a picture of your C board both sides please. Also those dip switches, I'm not sure if they're OK.

Cps1.5 settings are managed by service menu. Cps1.5 A-board doesn't have dip-switches populated so it would be wise NOT to assume they won't interfere with normal behavior, in fact there's a case that prevents any tampering other than volume knob. Please dont take for granted there's a default dip-switch default for all games unless 100% tested.

Here are C board front and back photos. With Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, in the system config menu I attempted to change from Qsound to monaural. On my stereo only cab, this made it so there was no sound. Then moving the board to a JAMMA edge sound only cabinet, there yet is no sound. I turned the Qsound pot on the multiboard back and forth the entire movement to test.

Question: on CPS 1.5 games is it usually required to change the system settings from qsound to monaural for JAMMA edge sound? I had tried both ways with this setup so far. For CPS2 boards, if I recall, you’ll still get sound through Edge connector if it is set to Qsound/stereo.

I also tried Cadillacs after turning all DIP switches on the A board to off.

I'm not sure where your problem comes from. Everything looks good. Can you look for sometthing odd, like bent pins on the Z80 or something similar?

Can you try also these exact dip switched but on DIP A put the ones from 1 to 6 to ON?

Update: tried with those DIP settings suggested (also turning on DIP A 1-6) and results are similar, no audio on CPS 1.5 through JAMMA edge and unable to load Musclebomber series games.

Z80 looks really good condition. I completely removed it just now and reseated it.

When running 74 Musclebomber Duo this error appears on screen currently.

Perhaps I could reformat and reinstall files on the SD card one more time. It is the card provided from highscoresave.
