Guys, what is the deal with the different color lindberghs?

I have red, blue, yellow, silver

Specs are different. All run Montavista Linux except the Blue one that runs Windows Embedded. Yellow is the standard version. Red has a lower-end CPU and GPU. Red EX is a step up from the Red, but with more memory. The Silver was a rental only Satellite unit by Sega for VF5:FS.

I purchased a Lindy VGA from him.
Seems to know very well sega hardware.

they talk about me here, I'm very flattered!
A member of Neo Arcadia appears to have a black version !
Apparently, it seems to be a technically Yellow

Runs faster I hear.*

(not a racism joke, more like black cars are faster childhood myth type thing. Don't ban me)

I've spotted a few of the Red "Ex" have a sound card & JVS card installed but the wrong video card - so are they up-gradable?

Wiki states they have 2.8Ghz celeron CPU's and a 7600GS graphics card - Anyone know if you can upgrade the CPU to a P4 3Ghz and what videocard is needed too?

Can you use a standard 7800GS and flash the bios with the Sega one - like you can with the Type-X2?

I tried flashing the bios and it's pretty complicated as it must be the same firmware as the original and not everycard supports it well. Your best option is to run the multigame which removes the need for the exact bios. However this is limux so you still need the same video card model or won't work. At least only the model is needed.

so a red ex + 7800gs + p4 3ghz would be equivalent to a yellow for the multi kit?

That's right! I think you also need to update memory, depending on the red type you got.

Seen those reds in YAJ?

yes - cost of extra bits needed would probably be more than just buying a yellow one in first place....

Last time I had an opportunity to buy a Red I went through the same thought process and came to the same conclusion.

I've been seeing a lot of the VF5 "silver" satellite units pop up recently, not sure what those use for CPU or RAM but they look to have the right graphics, sound, and JVS cards,
