Hey guys !

A few months ago on Buyee, I bought that Pop'n Music control panel made by River Service.

(I'm currently working on a new CPO)

It is equipped wit Sanwa OBSAT-60UMQ buttons (dome 60mm buttons). The microswitches were used, but they can easily be replaced by the microswitches from a JLF-TP joystick.

The arcade games can run in HD or SD (640*480p) so it's perfectly suited on my New Net City.

Although the buttons are smaller than the 100mm ones on the original cabinet, it's fully playable, and it's hell of a ton of fun, even for a noob such as myself !

A little update on this project:

I bought this upright Naomi Universal Cab for this game (just before lockdown), so people can play it standing up in events, and attached a Club Kart subwoofer to it to beef up the sound.

(except from the NUC, those are not my cabs)

A corner of the base panel has to be cut for the subwoofer to fit, but it improves the sound quality so much that I absolutely don't regret it a bit.

The Subwoofer is operated by this seperate 2.1 Amplifier

Also, the woofer itself was old and rotten and I had to replace it, I chose this colorful baby and it works perfectly (10" 25cm 150W 8 Ohm):

I've also been working on a more suitable CPO and topper

Will come back once those are printed and installed !

Last Week-end I finally had the opportunity to try my Pop'n Music CPO:

The panel was used on my NUC during the HFS Summer 2023 arcade event:

I had the opportunity to meet a great Pop'n Music player who has the official cab at home and tried my cab at the event with some level >40 songs, and although he made many mistakes because of his muscle memory needing to adapt to the new layout and smaller buttons, he found the panel totally playable !

So, here are my files:

Keep in mind I made it for my Sanwa OBSAT-60UMQ buttons, and I don't know if it'd fit with some other models.

Nice work. Thanks for sharing your hard work. I wasn’t able to see video’s unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing Fredo. I have an empty NUC cab (only screen is left). In first I wanted to dedicated it for Atomiswave USA sport shooting, but I have another guncab. So I rememberded of your PopnMusic I saw at HFS and I think I'll do this instead. Good to see a lot of thing are here, so I don't have to harass you with questions on HFS discord ;)

Very good work! What type of hardware runs this game!? I'm very tempted to throw this on one of my cabs 😉

The latest arcade versions run on PC and do not require expensive hardware at all. Mine is a 2010 gaming laptop, connected to the cab's IO board with a JVSy.
