Hi.
I had some crapy converts on Naomi cartridge. Always you can see manual soldering and desoldering. But this one is not. It's Virtua NBA, so very common game, no need to convert from another game. Chips are very well soldered, very pro, not like usual converts. And there are these stickers on some chips. Can someone understand what's written here?
You can see this card has made a long travel since it's very dirty, from Japan, sold in Korea, Chinese stickers, and I'm in France.

By the way, I have a Virtua Striker 2 convert. But from what? Which game can be converted to such a common game? Does someone know how to identify from which game is a Naomi card PCB ?

cart case originally was Virtua Tennis, at least barcode sticker say so. PCB itself have no stickers and no security chip, so can't be identified. for sure it was original Sega made, but have flash ROMs instead of mask roms, not sure by sega or 3rd-party.
is this cart works ? if yes - interesting to see it's ROM test screen photo

as for why conversion in general - some countries have quite cheap labor, tech worker in workshop may do dozens of SMD ROM replacement and reprogramming per day, for few bucks, and results will be much clean and looking professional made, like in this case.
my guess - it was some kind of repair task, where was made one working device (possible whole cab) from few dead ones.

Yaton sold like two dozen of these. I picked one up as well. It's a very well made conversion.

Thank you for these answers. I've checked the game, seems to be standard. Seeing chinese stickers on shell, can be a convert. That's these japanese stickers on flash ROMs that striked me and made me ask if you think it's a convert.

I get those same labels on my flash proms, iirc if you translate it you'll find that they're for pachislo machines.

I was curious how he did his conversion and I see he just drilled out the 5V vias, which is something I was thinking about doing but I just stick with cutting the trace to the pad.

if Sammy's pachislot machines - I will be not surprised if this cart was Sega/Sammy inhouse conversion.

I doubt this was an official conversion, it's basically the same one I do, and destructive to the pcb. He probably sources his MX26L6420MC from the same sellers since they are like half the price of brand new MX26L6420MCs. It does have a Korean label on top that they put on all arcade games, so it seems like they might have sourced the game from Korea then converted it. Why Virtua NBA I have no idea, since it's a very cheap game, at least from Japan, and one I use as a donor for my conversions. I do kind of want to know how he gets 3.3v to the bottom side of the pcb, he definitely drilled out the vias and you can see some small wire sticking out of them, so maybe he just solders it to the edge of drilled out via.

For reference, these are the ones I get off aliexpress.
