What's new

Going through the motions of *paying* to decap and dump a PIC16C621A Naomi PIC (.hex and .asm attached)

I'd love to see all pics published, analysed, explained, etc. so that people can convert them, make experiments, chnage game in their cabinets, etc. But at the end of the day it's SEGA Intellectual property and we don't want any troubles with them.

then why are we allowing pirated sega lindy games (multi)and pirated keys pics

I don't call it pirated. I call it like a demo. If I like it I will buy it from (YAJ, ebay, etc.) if not it's thrown out, erased, etc. It's like my collection of xbox 360 games and PSP games. The ones I like I make copies and the original are stacked away in my shelf. I play the copies one.

Exactly, its not like you can get a full refund on video games if you decide you dont like it or it sucks. I like to able to to demo the full game before I buy it :D

it just seems if its making a few people money its alright but if its given away for free we have issues with it.

I own to wrestlefest boards. They both work perfect. One's in a showcase and the other one on the shelf. I play the mame version on my PC.

It's not making people money, it's paying for a person time and knowledge to do it. Example I could go into Google download a zero pic. And burn it. Instead I would pay somebody else time to do it. Instead of me investing in eeproms, a pic programmer, wasting my time on the internet, etc. I would gladly pay someone for their time. Just think of it like a donation $$$$ for the community. Like me I like to go to these type of clubs where I see poor female orphans that have barley cloths and like to dance. I like to give them a big donations $$$$ so they could buy some cloths. And there are very happy and very nice with me. Poor girls I always think of them. ;)

ummm we are talking the moratorium on sharing Lindbergh files while poeple are selling pirated lindbergh on this forum. i sell netboot and cf boot and replacement pics. so its obviously not that

I understand you, just pulling your leg there. But to you it's pirated, but to me it's a demo. If I like any game I would go to an auction and buy it. Now that I own the actual machine, so the previous "pirated" Lindbergh is just a backup copy of the machine I own. Like I said before I'm buying just "time and knowledge" of the person that he/she puts in to deliver these products to me. So I could go and do what I like bars, pubs, concerts, strip clubs, boxing matches, etc. Instead of me sitting behind a PC and doing it myself.

this isnt my yardstick its the sites one. i say lets pirate it all and collect the originals when we can

Openly spreading information about how to hack the system or posting propietary code is a huge trouble that we want to avoid. Have you seen any such an info about lindbergh here? @werejag I encourage you to post all this info in NG forum please :)

pirated copy has just as much threat to shut site down i dont want this place closed. i enjoy it here. lets be consistent.

I can make this real simple... is Chihiro “supported”? yes! do people here sell Chihiro keys, yes?!

The line in the sand has been noted. Best we stop discussing it before the “drama” word gets tossed out.

Thanks for your time, I’ll post what I obtain somewhere *not* here when I go through the motions again.

for what it is worth, you can call it what ever you want be it “demo”, “second copy”, “24 hour download”, etc... I don’t think you are any more a lawyer than myself or most other folks in this thread. Now on the flip side those folks that DO have lawyers are spreading their legalese in attempts to define these terms for you. See: https://www.nintendo.com/corp/legal.jsp as it covers most any scenario you can contrive up.

This recent right to repair exception may make some of this murky, but it will need someone to *test* it, or for an actual lawyer to give *you* advice. Rando forum legalese is not recommended.

All is know is right now I have a Chihiro Crazy Taxi game that is missing a key, and I own the Upright, and Sega’s USA division is unable to sell me one. This is seemingly the same landscape on numerous platforms that have never been officially sunsetted. Where our rights end and theirs begin remains to be seen. Time to read that exception closely.

As long as lindy multi is for sale (I know, I know... Only sell a couple) it is confusing to people that they cannot post info for replacement keys. If sega cared about replacement keys being made, AGS wouldn't be walking around doing repair. Sega really does not care, else their lawyers would let you know. Repair not replace.

If you have a legal team, or even if you don't , you're better off not moderating open information, and rather responding to DMCA under safe harbor, if US law is even applicable to the servers location. You're not liable as a moderator for content on your forum; you're only liable to remove it under legal demand. I ran the legal dept of an abuse desk for many years. The mame git would not exist if sega still cared. As a forum you're not responsible, the poster is. The worst I have seen [forum wise] is repeat DMCA offenders had to be banned from certain forums due to copyright issues of major movies etc.

If we can't post info on replacement chihiro and lindy keys, then it could make sense to stop selling lindy multi kits or chihiro 0 keys, or to find that sega really does not care. I'm not trying to be rude, I have had many arcade ops confused about this line themselves. After talks with AGS it seems that legit replacement keys, just like 0 keys, are not of concern, especially on any GDROM system. Lindbergh being DVD does raise some concern, but I was hoping we could find that out responsibly as a community.
