Mitsu... With all due respect I'm not sure why you feel the need to defend anyone, finnisterre included. People's actions and posts can speak for themselves just fine IMHO. Who asked your defense?

I'll say it again, for a no drama forum you guys really have been abrasive to finisterre. This is my view as an unbiased member of both the arcade and IT communities.
By "you guys" who do you mean? I've not been abrasive towards him at all. I've defended him constantly. He rubbed one mod the wrong way, we handled that in house even going so far as asking that mod to not deal with/say anything to him anymore. He also had issues with a few other members here that we tried to stop from flaring up. Plus the posts on the forum do not tell the whole story. So you can't understand everything about this situation by looking at posts.

Saying "you guys" is offensive to me. One mod on the site had issues with him. The rest were other members. Darksoft stayed out of the situations until Finnisterre's confusing response to Darksoft asking me to moderate a situation that could have potentially gotten out of control. That hardly constitutes the moniker of "you guys".

meh. I know a lot more behind the scenes but none of that matters to me, nor should it to a moderator of any forum IMO.

If you're offended by my words, that is on you bud. I'm not excusing anyones actions by stating how I feel.

Anyway, anyone have real good docs on the cart to netboot process? That's why I'm here...

Moderating is 50% behind the scenes. So by default it has to matter. Lots of stupid situations don't leak into public view because they are moderated behind the scenes.

Anyways, moving on.

Even if moving on, your point is very true. A lot of things happen behind the scenes in moderating more than regular users imagine or speculate on popular forums or other social media.

I admin a private discord server of over 350 users with a mod team of 6. Tons of clashing personalities that are vented and taken care of behind the scenes to keep chat clean and respectful. No easy task.

Trying to get smart people to get along is sometimes like herding cats...

Sorry...just couldnt pass up the opportunity to post this.

And I completely understand where you are coming from. I used to mod an OS Modding/hacking forum for a few years, I do not welcome the opportunity again.

For what it is worth, in 3 years since this site was started this is the first time a contributing member was permanently banned. I hope that says enough about his actions and words yesterday.

For what it's worth as a member for all of those years, I am really biting my tongue on this one.

Most of you are very good mods, all of you colleagues. Permabans for personal disagreements handled on Twitter seems pretty.... Well... A lot. No matter what went down.

Not excusing or siding with anyone. Moving on. I really do love this forum for what it is.

if you mean me personally - you may look at message history, where I'm usually answering questions or (trying to) help people to solve some problems.

as for mentioned person... he was asked several times - if he trying to solve some practical problem(s), or trying to learn something with some practical goals, but he was unable to give intelligible answer.
so, as for me it was looking like this person is looking for "cool stories" (read my message #79 in this topic), with no any practical goal and not trying to learn something, but trying to get some kind of entertainment here.

moreover, when he was told smth like "okay, its all documented and open to public. DIY and read it." there started screams like "you are hoarding and not sharing information!!!".
i.e. if I won't explain something using language and terms which can be understood even by little kids, but instead refering to docs or source code - I'm became hoarder lol.
you may imagine how it looks from perspective of sane person, heh.

anyway, conclusion was like "this person doesn't need any real help, but only wasting my/our time"

Sorry to drudge up an old thread again but I did have a question related to the BIN files. Is it possible to netboot Soul Calibur on a Naomi 1? I ask because it seems that not only is this one of the more popular games for the Dreamcast and Arcade but I saw some videos of people who have done this. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend!

@malarrya are you sure ? I haven't heard about DC->Naomi conversions so far. sure, conversion is possible in theory, but it will require fair amount of work.
Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if there existed an Soul Calibur BIN (arcade) file that would work on the Naomi. I can splice a Dreamcast into my cabinet but didn't want to do that right now. I was just hoping I was missing something when it came to NetBooting Soul Calibur to my Naomi.

In the arcade Soul Calibur was released on Namco System 12 hardware; there was never a NAOMI release.

Namco System 12 games will not run on NAOMI.
