What's new
The CPS3 will just boot whatever the dip switches tell it to.
And if the DIPs don't match, does it just show a black screen or some error message?

- EDIT -

By "don't match" I mean if user accidentally sets some DIPs for one game and other DIPs for another game. Or I suppose the same problem could occur of one of the DIMMs was missing, altogether.

gonna be hard to adjust dips if you have a plexi case with the cps3 setup. i'm sure it's worth it tho

Realistically, everyone is gonna play/leave it on 3rd strike most of the time. But, Im sure someone will make a selector for it, its the normal course to take, you would not be wanting to mess with the dip switches all the time.

I actually go back and forth with 2nd impact because I like the widescreen feature. Wished the other cps3 games used it.

I have to say I'm more than a bit disappointed this isn't an official feature.
@dannahan is 100% correct, sure its not as bad as writing the SIMMs, but having to flip individual DIP switches? Come on thats fucking LAME! :(

I want to flip at most one bank of DIPs, that acts like a master controller for ALL SIMMs.
Why come 99.9% of the way towards a proper/true multi only to ask users to set what 6 individual banks of switches the same?
The cost savings of this design ISN'T WORTH IT (please consider doing it right)!!!

I get it, but that is soemthing @Darksoft will have to answer on. I would be nice to have an on screen menu to select which game to load. But, I take it this will have to be work out at the bios level if at all. I dont how the cps3 accesses/addresses the simms but Im sure Darksoft already though tabout all this and the simpler route would be dip switches. Less complicated design/no major overhaul of the bios, etc.. You also have to factor in the time designing the new simms and rewriting the bios, baking in a menu, etc..And lets be honest how many kits is he going to sell versus the cost of such implementations?? Im all for an on-screen menu for this, it would go perfect with my setup since I have a completely enclosed hursit case, i dont even have the cart slot in mine, its installed internally.

Less complicated design/no major overhaul of the bios
A central bank of DIPs with IDC cables connecting all the SIMMs together wouldn't be complicated or require an overhaul of the BIOS.
It would only be slightly more expensive to produce, so I really don't see what the problem is here.

After all we already have working CPS3 multis, so is this about the perfection of the design or not?.. Individual SIMM switches (I'm sorry to be the one to always point this stuff out) ain't it. *drops mic*

Bro I hear ya, and yes I would have liked an onscreen menu to select the games, etc.. but again it was up to the dev and he decided on this method for a reason so....¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The nice part is that there are only 3 signals and they can all be ganged together. Someone could make up a single master bank to mount at the front of the system or get all fancy with an OLED selector board (though the selector would be making an assumption about what was actually loaded in each slot).

Yeah IMO @Darksoft has already designed this around a selector, thus the dip switches.

Even if the LCD selector isn't through him, it's pretty much guaranteed to be available immediately with the kit.

I'm sure you could customize the selector to show what you want for each slot without much difficulty. Most people will just use a standardized set though.

So you set all dip switches the same in each dimm to specify which slot/game to boot, correct!? And the new bios just boots that game all the time until you change it, you just have to pick the region you want at boot up as you do now.
Exactly that

Keen! Put me down for a set when ready.
