An other MegaPlay motherboard, missing IC33 (PAL16L8, ref. 315-5654) | Arcade-Projects Forums (arcade-projects.com)

I'd like to know at least what the motherboard does when IC33 is pulled.
Since it's a L PAL you should even be able to dump it easily using the 256KB EPROM method.

Thanks.

Sadly it's not easy as you may think. This PLD, altough it's a PAL16L8, uses internal latches (also combinatorial devices can have this configuration) hence every attempt of dumping it as a 27020 will EPROM fail (like it happened to other people me including).A deep analysis/observation of the device is needed in order to figure out the internal logics.I hope it's clear now.

You know it makes no difference for me. I can dump it no issue.
All those Sega PALs I've dumped, many had failed before too ;)
I told you the "secret" why don't you apply it?

P.S.: I don't think the L devices have real latches (need to check documentation), it's more self-feedback if you see what I mean. Generating a kind of latch of course but not dependent of a rising or falling edge of a clock pulse.

I know you have the solution but you were referring to Hammy and the 27020 dumping so I gave a pertinent answer.Again, he can't dump it with this method :)

It's true my kit is only setup for unlocked chips, 020 dumps never seem to work out.
The chip is there, if you want to borrow it for copying that's fine!

Hope it's not too far away. Spring cleaning is coming

Accept throwing all boards into the vault is a good thing , as times like this will always happen :)

i got the 020 method working last month.
the problem is compatabilty, it only works on some programmers.
it DOES work on an ELAN 5000
it does NOT work on a MicroMaster1000 or a TL866IIplus.
