04/30/22 Preorders for these are CLOSED!
For another batch I would need another 12 marquee pieces ordered since I have to buy full sheets of this acrylic

Hey guys,

I'm doing a poll to see if there is interest in "proper" repro vewlix marquees.

These will have:
Porper acrylic, may not be 100% what Taito used, but it's damn close, cause I cant tell the difference.
Reflective foil tape for the edges (this may be pre-applied or you might have to do it yourself, only because I've never dont that so.... we will see how it goes)
Stepped edge, to hold art at the right level

Nuts/bolts like the original - @jassin000 is taking care of these so I dont have to hunt them down.
Front flexible sheet This piece needs to be die-cut and will just add more to the cost. I will revisit this later to see how much it would cost, but I wont be including these.

The price will not be cheap, I'm estimating about $125 per set before shipping. And this is solely due to the fact that a sheet of the specialty acrylic cost from $8-900 alone and I would have to buy a whole sheet at a minimum. That's just the sheet before any processing, shipping, cutting, etc...The flexible front sheet needs to be die-cut, so there's added expense there.

Preorders - Need 10x $100 deposits to go into production. The estimated time is about 6 weeks, I have no control over this, there are only 3 authorized distributors of this acrylic in the country.

Nuts/bolts like original or could install heat-set inserts like these so you dont have to worry about losing the nuts:
Yes, damn close is fine
Reflective foil tape for edges is NOT the Taito way, so even IF this works better I'd rather not have the option
Stepped edge perfect!
Thin/flexible sheet, can we have a option to skip this when ordering for a slight discount?
Acorn nuts/truss screws please, just like Taito factory used (I have extra sets I'm going to start selling for cheap/my cost soon)

Price will not be cheap, Im estimating about $150-200 per set before shipping.
I'd go as high as 150$ a piece, but I wouldn't do more (400$ for two is just too much my man, not saying your attention to detail isn't worth the cost) ;)

I hear ya, it's only an estimate for now, since I am trying to put it all together and see what it will cost, I still have a few unknown prices.

It's just crazy that these guys are charging so much for this acrylic.

I have to buy a full sheet minimum no way around it, and a sheet will yield about 14 pieces. I would probably keep 2, so I would need to sell 12.

If the company doesn't do the laser cutting (still asking about this & how much) I will have to do it.

Then we are missing a piece of acrylic that needs cut and glued, and then the flexible sheet. screws/nuts.

The foil tape although is missing in most, is part of the way Taito sells it, it's meant to be there. When I ordered my replacements from Taito that's the way they come, I thought it was protective film, but it's not, it's meant to be there and reflect the light back into the panel. I can forgo this.

If I can get 12 orders I will do them at basically cost, but it will only be the back acrylic and the art ledge, not the flexible piece, that needs to be die-cut polycarbonate sheets. and no foil edge.

Flexible sheet we would be able to use the same piece off of a standard vewlix diamond or L?

I would be interested in 1-2 but with shipping to EU and possible taxes at customs 150,- each would be the absolute maximum. Does it fit on the „F“ though?

Its for all vewlix. Im trying to do a small run of 12 to sell at cost basically. so it wont be above $150 for sure. That is an estimate of the extremes.

and you could ship mine together with the Light PCB that would shorten the shipping cost, so I‘m in

@Derick2k So the original Taito acrylic is supposed to be "milky" like in the photo? Didn't know that. I thought they were just clear.

ill take them :)

Fuck it, lets make it happen, if they dont sell they dont sell.

@jassin000, if you have enough hold 12 sets of those nuts/bolts.

For those that want these, I can do it at cost + shipping, and a small fee for laser cutting, packaging, etc...so let's say an additional $15 a set?

I wont do the front flexible polycarbonate sheet, that needs to be die cut, if done on a laser, it will melt or discolor the plastic.

Cost breakdown:
Acrylic before being processed is about $70 alone per piece, not factoring in tax, shipping, laser cutting.
Then we need the additional acrylic piece that needs to be glued to the main one, I will say between the acrylic and glue $8-10
Reflective foil edge tape $10
Screws/nuts, etc...$9
Laser cutting $15
Packaging $10

So about $125

Polycarbonate sheet - I have no idea what it would cost, so Im not doing those.

So I will need 12 pieces to be preordered/paid with $100 to make this happen.

Lets do this!!!

if you have enough hold 12 sets of those nuts/bolts.
Oh, uh... Let me see if I can get some more.
I have lots of M4 truss screws and M4 locking washer screws, but I've only got 10 (2x more sets) of these Acorn nuts remaining (two people have PM'd me already/10 sold).

Cool, then hold off, lets see if we can get 12 orders in, not in the mood to spend $1K in supplies to sit on it :D
