This year I under took probably the biggest arcade project I've ever done, building a capcom Big Blue from scratch, I've always wanted one but being in the UK they are like finding gold dust, I've never seen one for sale ever and only played on a SSF2Turbo one back in 1993 and was blown away by it the sheer size of it and that awsome sound, i know there is at least one in the uk, so decided to actually build one I've just finished it now and very happy its turned out the way it has considering this is the first cab I've built, it was a lot of work and head scratching as I had no real cabinet plans other than whats on sketch up, luckly I have an Original Dynamo HS1 cab that i cribbed ideas from, looked at a boat load of youtube vids, pictures of folk showing the insides of one so i could copy it to how it should be.

I've attached some images here but my full project from start to finish is over on my flickr page.

Insane! Amazing job. Looks better than my original. Love the CRT bracket. Only missing detail I see is the clear acrylic spacers between the marquee and the cabinet proper. Easy to make if you can't find.

Nice 👍 Yea I've seen those big blues with the acrylic, there seems to be different variations of bigblues and how the Marquee is mounted, the ones they show seem to be black circles which look t moulded, this is the one i copied.

i do like the clear one and will update it later as it looks better especially lit up.

I made my Marquee box slightly bigger height wise as when i see these big blues which have been changed to super turbo the black edging for holding the glass in place cuts off the top and bottom of the Marquee, with the Super Turbo the Marquee looks way to cropped, i also didn't use Capcoms original Q Sound amp as I wanted a custom built sub in the base of the cab, so opted for a 12v 2.1 amp where i can control the sound from the front, if you thought the original set up was good put a sub in the base of the cab it sound absolutely cracking, especially when I've got my pc hooked up and playing Street of rage 4 👍

Yes, mine has two black T molding rings made of wood and three separate acrylic plates (two yellow and one clear). I've seen them stacked various ways, with and without all the parts!

Cropping of the copyright text on my marquee graphic is clearly visible; this is partly due to MDF sag but mostly because of poor design. A smaller L bracket would be more ideal, but I don't sweat it.

I do have a subwoofer in my base, but not as nice as yours :)

If you need detailed pics of any of the internals, let me know, but it looks like you've got things covered 😀

Thanks for that ☺

Yea this is what i ment by cropped look, it crops the 'turbo' part every machine seems to suffer this with the ssf2t Marquee i got gameongraphics to do my art which they done perfectly.

Next year i want to build a Midway cab Mortal Kombat 2, just got hold of an original complete MK2 board its dead so currently working on it.

Awesome job! I am getting a big blue in pretty poor shape! Getting ready to do a restore on it.

Looks great! I plan on doing this with a Neo Geo 2-slot

Nice 👍 the Neocabs look great, always got a soft spot for NeoGeo stuff, SNK came out with AAA+ titles one after the other, SNK and Capcom were most certainly banging on all 8 cylinders back then.

This looks incredible!! I got a bare bones cabinet I'm restoring, how did you get the measurements for the control panel and top?

Do you mind if I ask what monitor you used in the big blue? It looks great, I always have trouble finding lcds that dont look awkard when I unfortunately have to convert them

Beautiful. It looks better than the OG cabs.

Great build! Where did you run your power cable? I can't see it in the build photos. Is there another opening in the back of the cabinet? Does it go through the base and then through the skirt? On the side? Is there a photo somewhere? Thanks!

Also, what size holes did you have to cut for the speakers?
