Nothing too flashy here. I wanted a stand so that I can store unused control panels (while still populated) safely and not have them take up a ton of room. I whipped up these little easels and they have been working as intended. There are two versions V2 and V5. V2 has less clearance; it's fine for 1L CPs. V5 has ~20mm (I can't remember exactly) from the bottom of the CP to the bottom of the easel. I added the height so that the 2L CP can rest on the easel without touching the ground/table since the easels have to sit on the far outsides of the CP in order to not hit buttons or joysticks.

I'm sure there are more elegant ways to make these and/or a more robust solution; but they do the trick ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Nice work! I have a handful of panels populated and unpopulated laying around I'd like to have on Display / Ready for use, these are perfect.

Great job!! Iv always wanted something like this for my unused panels but I don’t have much counter space….but do have plenty of room on the walls! Think you could share the SCAD files , or be be able to remix it into something that would be wall mounted?

It could also be handy for wiring/working on a populated panel. The panel would want reversing and you would want it to be laid back at more of an angle, just enough so that the balltop doesn't touch the desk. I've got a couple of CPs to wire myself soon, I might have a go at this myself...

I can provide the files; they're on my personal machine so I'll grab those later this evening and you can take a whack. If I have time, I can take a stab at making them wall-mountable.

I can add a bit steeper angle to it. Shouldn't be too difficult :)

Alright, fair warning: I haven't even put these into Cura to see if they'll slice. I just threw them together as I had a bit of downtime today. Here are some quick details:

The two wall-mount files have holes specified for #10 flat-head machine screws. Those are pretty easy to find a drywall anchor for so I figured that'd be a safe bet. One of them has plastic all the way to the bottom which will probably be easier to print. The other version uses less plastic, but might be more difficult to print... maybe? The one with plastic all down the back will probably be easier to print on its back.

Finally for @FrancoB, I added a model with a 50 degree angle and it's a lot longer. Hopefully that will give enough surface area contact between the easel and the CP. You'll still need to hold the joystick in place for the first screw, but it'll be easier than trying to hold it in your lap. LMK if you think that'll work for ya.

I'll probably start some prints of these tonight and see how they work. So again -- these are untested! Once I have some final products I will post them to thingiverse.

Edit: added one more wall mount version. This should be easier to print. Only supports required are for the screw hole.

Edit 2: after one test print I can tell that the wall mount version doesn't keep the CP far enough from the wall so the joystick assembly gets in the way. I'll make some adjustments tonight / tomorrow. I am also going to add a piece at the top in order to secure the top of the CP to keep it from falling forward.

I actually designed and printed something Vewlix-centric yesterday. I'm just printing another colour combo today for a friend and then I'll upload them.

Doing one last run of test prints and I should have some finals for wall mounting, CP assembly stand (20 degree angle. I just need to make sure the distance from the ground is far enough so that joysticks have clearance), and one last revision of the stand. Sorry for all the revisions one after another! I'm just as bad with my pull requests 😄
 
I'll be uploading these to Thingiverse as well but here are some "finals." Of course, they can still be polished a bit, but they're fine for now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I'm no pro like @FrancoB :D.

Wall mount version: There's enough clearance from the back of the joystick (I have a seimitsu LS-32 mounted right now) to the wall. Easiest way to get your CP into the mount is to insert the top first and then the bottom. The top hangs over enough that it should keep the CP from falling forward (important for those of us in earthquake-prone areas :) ). The screw holes are designed to accept #10 flat-head machined screws. I tried to build these using as little plastic as possible. The annoying part is getting the supports out of the holes. Hopefully the outer hole is big enough ti fit most of y'all's screwdrivers!

Easel: A thinner version of the stand. I made it a bit thinner I hopes that it's easier to find a mounting point on a populated 2L CP. Should be plenty strong.

Assembly Stand: This is a 20 degree angle and should fit most joysticks. I gave it plenty of breathing room on the base LS-32; so sanwa sticks should be ok, too.

I ran a test to increase my confidence in these wall-mounts. It has been 3 weeks since I hung this in my garage. 2.5kg at 15% infill. No sign of cracks or even flexing. I’d say these are plenty sturdy.

Figured this would be fun to share :)

3D prints can be pretty strong, and I think people often overestimate the amount of infil you need. 15% is more than it seems, structure wise. There's almost never a reason to print at 100% infil.

The one thing I'd say to watch out for, because it's bitten me, is if you print PLA and use it in say an un-AC'd garage, summer heat might give you some warping problems. I'd try printing in PETG if that's ever a concern.

Yessir! The only hangers I’ve had fail were some change plate holders; but it was 20kg before it started to fail.

You’re spot on with warping. I’ve been a victim of that before. I am fortunate that my garage is in the basement and rarely gets above 75. It’s a nice place to hang when I don’t want to run the AC 😅.

My biggest issue right now is my lead
screw. Dang thing is bent and I may just give in and buy another.
