Super Monaco GP Airdrive

Good point, I'm sure the numbers were the same but I'll try anyway....

a PAL is a Programmable Array Logic, even if the component has the same number,
each IC has its own logic programmed, so do not mix up the position, otherwise the CPU will not start

One chip did have a different number, anyway, more progress! It was still dead, I touched a ROM and it started to boot.....

IC108!! I pushed down on it.......

Yay! So I'll re-flow 108, then it on to testing the sound and inputs....oh...and the airdrive! Long way to go yet but at least I have something to show for all the work now :) I haven't forgotten about those airdrive measurements you want RedFighter, juts my garage is a right mess with all of this and the back of the cab is against a wall at the moment ;)

Yeahhh !!

at the moment it doesn't look bad with your board, you'll manage it.:thumbsup:

yes the dimensions and some pictures would be great, i want to continue with the airdrive components next... ^^

OK, I've re-flowed 108, the sound board is back on. I've got sound and the game runs. I've got no steering input or pedals :( I'm hoping rodent damage to the wiring somewhere....if not another board fault to find & fix!

Haha! I was VERY HAPPY. Then down.... then up again!! It's not over but I think it can be done. I couldn't have done this without the help on here and others that have helped via email. I didn't think I'd ever see the start screen again!!!

Superb work looks great, the steering and pedals could just be bad pots?

Cheers Justin

Could be. I'll not get time to look again today :( Not sure where on the board these inputs go? I can see a previous repair on some opto chips. IC155 - IC158. Cheers

@sega_man
First I would measure the supply voltage at the potentiometers for the steering, gas and brakes.
There should be GND and +5V on the outer pins of the potentiometer.
If that works, check out IC166, a 74HC4051 analog multiplexer. The analog signals go straight to this IC.
Possibly check the lines up to the pins, maybe something is smoked there or the line is broken.

Just read a translation of your link RedFighter. Top work ;) Do you have a schematic of the extra soundboard?

@Gamesmonkey
ohhh what is that weird dirt on the board?
I look forward to your repair report.:)
My board was rotted too, here you can see some pics of it.
It looks worse than it is I took the photo just after spraying some alcohol to start cleaning it down.
Mine is like yours all the EPROMs have bad corrosion on the legs but the PCB appears to be in good condition
Here's how it's looking now. Sockets and EPROMs were removed waiting for more parts to arrive.

This is from my ThunderBlade DLX.
