My 5v adjuster is loose from the board on my Blast City, so trying to carefully use a screwdriver to adjust, my hand slipped, and I must have shorted something because the whole cabinet turned off.

It wouldn't power on for a few minutes, then it would again, but the 5v line is weird now.

It only shows about 3 ish volts on meter, measured at my Naomi's JVS 5v connector. When I ADJUST the 5v voltage, I see it boost up to 4v or 5v, then is quickly back to 3 ish.

Will a simple cap replacement fix whatever is going on? Or do I need to test or try anything else? Thank you so much for any advice. I'm really bummed and concerned.

I was already in need of a cap replacement cos I was getting 11.5-11.6v on the 12v line, and 3v and 5v had to be pumped up pretty high to get correct voltage.

Assuming it was working properly before, then it is almost certainly not a capacitor issue.

Step one will be to open and visually inspect entire board. Start with looking at 5v adjustment pot. It shouldn't have been loose to begin with. Could be as simple as bad solder joint on that.

If an adjustment pot is loose/missing, that will likely cause the power supply to shut off.

The blast city has an issue with stress from gravity pulling on the harnesses causing broken solder joints on the intermediary board that's attached to the side of the coin bin, causing the user to need to crank up the adjustment pots to achieve appropriate voltage. All of the blasts I've owned and multiple of my friends have had this issue, so I would suggest pulling that board out and reflowing the joints.

Thank you both so much!!! Easy enough place to start

Edit: Yeah, the adjuatment knob for 5v fell right off. Thanks for confirming what's going on! Can easily solder it back on .

Yeah, the piece broke off. Is there a good place to get a replacement part ? It looks like this would be difficult to through-hole resolder. Let me know if I'm wrong tho too please!
