What's new

So whats next on the list of multis?

no interest on system16 or model 2/3 Or cave1000?
I would be very interested in a CV1000 multi, especially if it supports both CV1000D and CV1000B games.

If it requires an original board then hopefully a CV1000B board can be used and the multi can provide the additional memory for the CV1000D games to run.

I like shooters, they aren't my goto but I like them, esp the classics (R-Type/Lifeforce).That being said, in my mind the biggest problem with a potential Cave multi...

Its nothing but shooters!

A good candidate for a multi must have a good selection of games, not one type of game and nothing else.
Exactly! therefore what we need after the CV1000 is THIS Multi: http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=967

It has the perfect combination of diferent genres.. shooters, puzzles.... I would kill for this one :)

IMO it's just a poor choice for a multi.

One thinge which came to my mind speaking of a possible CV1000 multi: please put the hardware to rotate the video so that we don't have to TATE our screen. If you're going for a full custom solution this should be doable.

I think he means within the menu to select a game and stuff.. To have that rotate because the games will rotate by default.. Kind of like how the jamma pie has this function now just for vertical oriented cabs.. Let's keep playing caves games on Groovymame and let's see what happens:)

if the cave1000 requires an original PCB it will likely be way too expensive.

I know, I know... CPS3 right?

The CPS3 multi is the only multi that violates this guideline (as CPS3 had nothing but fighters)...
However with just 3 major franchises appearing on the hardware it no wonder/hard to fault Capcom here.

Yes this post is coming off anti-Cave, and that's not really how I intended it.

Don't forget about MushihimeTama! There's *one* non-shooter on CV1000 hardware.

IGS PGM is my choice, since that and CPS1 are the only of these prospective platforms that I have, and I'm a selfish bastard. CPS1 would be incredible too, but they're so fucking unreliable. I guess it's a toss up for me.

I'm with you.

Cave and Toaplan sound incredibly nice, but there's so much great and varied stuff on PGM and CPS1. My longshot desire is a Kaneko SuperNova multi though.

talent and EXPERTISE being the important words
Hey, they are fantastic at what they do!
I would never downplay the talent required to create what so many consider works of art.
What I'm criticizing is the fact it's basically ALL they do, hence the "one-trick pony" definition. ;)

Irem gets way more respect from me, because yea they made some great shooters, made some great run&guns and a great beat'em up.
Namco same, Capcom same, Sega same, Konami same... So why do so many rank Cave among the previously mentioned powerhouses?
I think it's pretty clear they are not on the same level, not even close.

That isn't to say they are bad, just not equal.
I've got some skills with a solder iron too, but to compare me to the Guru or Doctor Decapitator would be a giant mistake. :P

IGM PGM and Atomiswave are my vote for next candidates
Especially now that the bootlegs for Atomiswave are also not being sold by AliExpresss anymore....

I noticed that also. Went looking two weeks ago and it was a wasteland. Alibaba has a few, but they're more expensive and largely made to order.

Oh, if anyone is looking for an IGS PGM motherboard, I have a source for them at $53.83/shipped to the US. Mine came in excellent condition and was packed well. Just PM me for their email.

you can find cheap IGSs in China (IGS is "chinese" anyway..)

I got mine "new" (with battery mod) in complete original package, with Dodonpachi II kit new sealed all together for a bit more than 100$ .... there weren't much flippers interested in IGS systems by then (maybe now it's different)
