What's new
@modology, @The Spaniard - I built a few superguns like that in the past - Supergun showcase!

I wish I could build more of those, but it's just too time consuming and expensive this way. I came up with HAS as a less expensive solution that I could offer to more than just 4-5 people per year. The biggest obstacle for me is the JAMMA harness. I hate building those, and I'm not satisfied with the pre-made Chinese ones, I couldn't offer them with my device.
Fking THIS!!! This is almost as what I had in mind.

Could you provide details about what psu and other parts you used to make this? The thing I am most interested is in finding a PSU that can handle all possible systems and can fit inside a case roughly that size along with an OSSC.

Hot damn that thing looks awesome. I'd totally be down for one.

That thing is beautiful! I’m overall happy wIth the MK30 Jasen Hicks built me, but damn this one is cool! I would definitely buy one given the opportunity : D

That would be awesome! With some Saturn controller (or maybe USB) inputs too you’d have the perfect portable supergun!

That was what I had envisioned, 2 sets of saturn ports and 2 sets of USB ports on the front, maybe the 4 player ports as well or have those around the back as an extension of some sort. Would be great for tournaments for almost any system instead of limiting yourself to one system like UD-CPSII which is awesome but just serves one purpose for one system only.

As nice as a sleek all-in-one unit would be, I still want the standard HAS. Since production times are an issue and I'm waiting for HAS orders to open up again, I'm all for availability over portability. The power supply thing isn't that big of an issue considering a lot of boards aren't in any enclosures when they're played on a supergun. But it would be really nice to have a way to somehow combine the HAS with the OSCC.

For me the HAS goes to the gscartswitch via 8 pin mini din to scart, then to OSSC. Don't really see the need of having an all in one thing for that especially since you can't use the OSSC for anything else once it's integrated.

About the "full" HAS supergun solution - sorry guys, not happening soon, too much stuff on my plate at the moment. We can come back to this in a few months. One thing is certain, though - it would be extremely limited in quantity, 3-4 units tops, just to see how it goes for me, but I know it's not something I seek to do in larger quantities.

if is has an OSSC integration in the enclosure the. I will take two:).. No hurry, I can wait.

I'll take the other 2 ;) :D

An old Navy buddy of mine works with metal now. I believe he even has a laser cutter that somebody donated to him to learn on. Maybe I can talk to him into designing something to where this could be a DIY kit with the existing HAS design.

The guy mostly makes gun parts, and so far nobody’s gun has exploded on them...so I think his work should be pretty good lol. I can see if he’s possibly interested and how many cases he’d be willing to make. Pretty sure he knows some paint guys too, but to keep everything cheap as possible it’d probably be best to go with the old Ford model of “you can have any color car you want as long as it’s black”.

"The guy mostly makes gun parts" it would be cool to make a metal shell that looks like a real gun and transport the inside of a lightgun with recoil and all.. tell me to make that, playing house of the dead with something like that would be very cool:)

I wouldnt be looking at having an enclosure pre built or anything like that, will add to the time and cost of receiving once. But as mentioned I would be interested in knowing what PSU could be used in one to possibly make my own.

Btw @modology nice pickup on the BVM-D20F1A was it really worth to pay over $1100 for it? Seems like a sky high price for it. :)

He’d probably be pumped to make something like that. He’s seriously a stereotype conspiracy theory preaching gun hoarding nutcase, but we go back all the way to boot camp so it’s hard not to love the guy lol. I just confirmed that he indeed has a laser cutter.

If somebody could be so kind, PM me dimensions of the OSSC, candidate power supplies, and the HAS itself. I’ll make a rough idea drawing over spring break, and then hand it off to my dad for a more detailed plan (he’s designed audio gear for over 30 years), and then present it Jeremy (my friend) to see if he is interested. If he’s not, then luckily my dad also has all kinds of connections, including Tucson’s biggest powder coating shop. Him and the owner go 50+ years back.

Dude, lets make something happen. I was about to start designing something. I think your dad would need to have parts on hand to be able to do this though.

Im gonna get a rough parts list together.

Just to give you an idea of my dad’s abilities, these were designed and hand built by him lol. Top piece is a ultrapath (pre-amp) and buttom is a stereo amp. He seriously has more energy than guys 1/3 his age...

Very cool builds, love tube amps. I have built a couple of tube headphone amps in the past, I am a bit of a headphone/amp freak :)

Tubes are the way to go with audio : D

Most common question growing up when kids visited my house, “what are those lightbulbs?”

If you want to spearhead something, I guess you can start a supergun build thread? Let people chime in on what they would want for it to incorporate to come up with the ultimate design that fits most things wanted?!
