What's new
I've been devoting most of my spare time to assembling this batch, I should be able to contact people who are first on the list this weekend, and the rest next week.

Oh, great!
So please add me to the queue.
Have I to choose the accessories now or can I decide in the meantime?

P.S.: ma siamo connazionali?

Are you producing the VGA/Taito F3/OSSC solution board with this batch?
I would like to purchase two (x2) of them please. :)

You can choose additional accessories later on, no worries.

No, but I'll create a survey for this and some other stuff to asses the interest, and if there are more than just a few people interested then I'll order the boards.

These are great SG's
I love the single board design and features!
The only way the HAS could be any better IMO is if it somehow included *cough*stole*cough* the design of the OSSC and integrated it directly into the same single board design.

Do you have any intentions of updating the B4/B5 buttons to have switches due to the revelations with regards to VSav and a few other games not liking having both kick + edge being wired up?

The new batch is V3.1 again, so no changes to the current design, but I plan to address the VSav button business if I release V3.2 (by the end of this year if time allows).

PS Do you know which other games have the same problem as Vampire Saviour?

PPS CPS2 Multi users - perhaps this could be fixed with a patch that disables the JAMMA button 4 reading?

Well if you are talking about unencrypted ROMs ok, but encrypted ROMs (like most people are now using thanks to key writing support/firmware) nope. :(
I think the above mentioned switch is the way to go (ie switch to the left 4+5 at the JAMMA edge, switch to the right 4+5 at the kick harness).
if I release V3.2
Jump directly to V3.3, integrated OSSC!

If I am not mistaken one of the D&D CPS2 games also bugs out but I could be wrong there. I believe it was the second one if memory serves right although it expects it on the edge instead of the kick harness.

Both D&D games use JAMMA button 4 intentionally for item select on Players 1 & 2. Kick harness used for all Player 3 & 4 signals.

I like the feature set of the HAP but would probably want to build a console like enclosure for it, any plans on offering a version with quick connects for wires instead of buttons and inputs ?

So if a supergun uses an extended pinout Vampire Saviour glitches? Which input is it that causes the issue, just button 4?

Could someone provide further info please?

Yes it reads both the jamma edge and the kick harness so one can cancel the other out. You just need to put tape over pin 4 on the jamma edge and it's fine.

Thanks!

Is it only button 4, Jamma pin 25, that's affected?

Most superguns with extended pinouts utilise Jamma pins 26 and 27 for buttons 5 and 6 so wondering if this also creates an issue?

Weird that button 4/Jamma pin 25 is wired up like that. Usually Capcom utilise the first 3 buttons from the Jamma edge and the remaining 3 from the kick harness.

Creates a conflict with Neo-Geo as it utilises Jamma pins 25 and 26 for button 4 and select.

Extended JAMMA pinouts are needed by more than just Neo-Geo.
Even Taito's official JAMMA kit places buttons 4 and 5 on the JAMMA edge, only using a external connector for button 6.

This is why I love both the HAS and the RECO!
For me RECO acts as a button consolidator, allowing my cab to feed 4 and 5 on edge but then moving these back to a common CPS2 style connector.
The only problem is they are bridged, active on both the kick harness and JAMMA edge at the same time.

If it was selectable via a switch you could decide based on the game boards requirements.
Need 4 on the edge for Neo-Geo? Just move the switch over to say "JAMMA" if you need 4 on the kick harness move it over to say "CPS2/3".

I blame Capcom for this honestly, if they released "proper" code it wouldn't look for the buttons in both places.
It SHOULD totally disregard JAMMA pins 4/5/6 and I believe that WAS the original intention.
As other games like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo are completely unaffected by this edge+harness issue.

@RGB is actually right to suggest the change to the ROM and not the hardware, only problem with this is the encrypted ROMs we are all running now thanks to key writing firmware.

If it wasn't for the D&D games, I'd just cut the JAMMA traces on the CPS2 A-board leading to buttons 4/5.
Who knows I still might, I don't have a 4-player cab so fuck it (you messed up Capcom and now your hardware WILL get hackedup as a result).

You can still run decrypted romsets when using the key writing mod, isn't it?

Sure, and for some this maybe the preference (wait for a decrypted patched version of VSAV to be released).
For me? I'd rather modify the hardware and run pure/original ROMs.

The best option? A new version of the HAS includes a switch to move 4/5/6 from edge or harness.

It is easy, make a switch.

JAMMA - 3 buttons only
EXTEND - 5 buttons on JAMMA edge.

The 6th button on JAMMA breaks the JAMMA standard in a bad way.
