Cloning a BattleGear 4 Tuned HDD

It's just a Western Digital WD400BB. Nothing special. I have four seats under my care at the moment and they are all using the same drive type. I have imaged a working drive using linux dd command and used the image to create another drive. It boots, but comes up with a System Error Code 906...

Cloning a BattleGear 4 Tuned HDD

The partitions are as you have described. Yeah, but if I need to place an unencrypted version of the game program on the disk I'll need to be able to access it.

Cloning a BattleGear 4 Tuned HDD

My mistake. The PC I was using had a BIOS issue and said EVERY drive was ATA locked. The drive is *NOT* locked. However the first partition cannot be mounted. It says it's an NTFS but I get no joy. The second partition has a bunch of .GST (Ghost?) files and some config info, and has a volume...

Cloning a BattleGear 4 Tuned HDD

Hmmm... I have the drive out of the working seat to try and copy it and the bugger is ATA locked. It is set to MAX security too! The drive may not be the original. The history of these seats is a guess at best. I'm trying the MHDD file to deep dive and get the password....

Cloning a BattleGear 4 Tuned HDD

Would spoofing the new drive's serial number to match the old one achieve a working result? (Google is struggling to help find me a ia decrypted copy of the game)

Cloning a BattleGear 4 Tuned HDD

On site, one of two seats of BattleGear 4 Tuned has a dead HDD. Is cloning the working HDD a simple process or is there an ATA lock or some other security I need to worry about?

    Konami System 573 help

All sorted, and I know a bit more about System 573 now. The DIP switch had been flicked to the wrong position and the board was looking onboard instead of off the CD-ROM. A couple of boots later and with me setting the clock it looks like everything is happy. i fixed a dodgy solder joint on...

    Konami System 573 help

Found the problem! A splash of solder was underneath the TEST button switch. That was tricky. Unfortunately there must be some protection info that does not exist on my new Timekeeper IC, as I get an error message saying the cassette doesn't match the game. Sigh. Dion, here are photos of the...

    Konami System 573 help

So with the machine working except for the Timekeeper chip needing replacing, I carefully extracted it and installed a socket and a new chip. Now the beast fails to show anything on the screen. I carefully checked for continuity of tracks and vias and searched for splashes and everything looks...

Lindbergh Yellow repair - dead HDD - Initial-D Arcade Stage 5

I have had no joy sourcing an installation disc for that version. I'm now going to attempt to unlock the working Western Digital HDD, clone it to another drive, and lock both drives again. I'm doing all of this on a normal PC... not on the Lindy. Extracting ATA passwords for older Western...

Ghost Squad - What size LCD screen to replace projection with? 40"?

A thought just struck me.... the original Xbox could be configured as 4:3 or Widescreen in the setup dashboard. I know the BIOS in the Chihiro is probably different to the Xbox retail BIOS... so presumably the xbe's are signed with a different key, but has there been any research into toggling...

Ghost Squad - What size LCD screen to replace projection with? 40"?

Before anyone flames me, I know that this is considered as butchery by some, but the projector is so bad that the game is unplayable. 16:9 is not the best when the game is supposed to be 4:3, but better than nothing. What size TV is best to install in the cabinet? Ideally I will place it inside...

Lindbergh Yellow repair - dead HDD - Initial-D Arcade Stage 5

I think I read somewhere that the Japanese version needed a server to play linked, where the export version didn't. In any event, this setup consists of just the pair.

Lindbergh Yellow repair - dead HDD - Initial-D Arcade Stage 5

The other working cabinet reports software version as... Initial d Arcade stage 5 SBRY 1.00 2009/01/21 Protection chip is 253-5508-0577E The game was in japanese, but IIRC there was never an english version.

Lindbergh Yellow repair - dead HDD - Initial-D Arcade Stage 5

I have two Initial-D Arcade Stage 5 seats here, and one has a dead hard disk drive. The hard disk is a 40GB Western Digital WD400BB-00JHC0 with a build date of March 2007. I have no restore disk. I either need to locate an installation disc, or clone the working hard drive in the other seat...
