What's new
I'm well aware of the H.S. Lim pot, and wouldn't have posted what I wrote if I didn't mean it. You are looking at a ~0.4mH horizontal winding on the MS8 yoke while the MS9 yoke is about 0.33mH.

The MS9 has a greater range of adjustment than the MS8 overall, but this particular situation can not be overcome with adjustments.

Sorry I shouldn't have said you were wrong, it's quite possible we are comparing different variations of these chassis that will give us differing results, it's not my place to question your experience.
I thought you would be aware of the HS LIM although you haven't mentioned the primary H-Size jumper, if you move it to W ( Default is N ) and very rarely ever needs to be moved from N=narrow it gives you considerably more adjustment.
Probably a good idea to mention there are several variations of the MS9-29 , the 29A is the first , The 29T is the last version I swapped onto an MS8 yoke and didn't see any size of geometry issues, this version is the Auto selecting 15/25K , then there is the 29U version which has several different high voltage cap values most obvious is the value of C519 which directly effects the Hor Size.
The 29A version has a 0.82uf with a 0.33uf added in Parallel on the Narrow setting , the 29U has a 0.68uf and adds a 0.56uf on Narrow , meaning that on Wide setting you are left with 0.82uf on the 29A and 0.68uf on the 29U , so if you want extra size replace C519 with 0.68uf on the 29A version but it will need to be on the Wide setting to notice the difference.
In most cases simply moving the jumper to W is more than enough coupled with the HS LIM pot.

Read the room, dude.

I think anyone new to the arcade scene considering the purchase of a CRT based cab should be required to read this entire thread first.
Monitor service and repair is a very real part of the hobby and you should know what's involved before pulling the trigger.
Don't be fooled into believing this won't ever be an issue for you just because everything is working right now/today.
I have no shame admitting I wasn't up for the challenge, and I hate seeing others make the same mistake I did.
I 100% agree with you - and if you want to put it as a cautionary tale and warning thread please go ahead.

I got this cab from a seller in Mexico, see... in my country there aren't as many GREAT condition used Astro City candy cabs you might think of.
Most of them are already in collectors hands, closed Facebook groups, junked in a landfill or in a whatever shitty place you might think off.
So, when this one popped-out, I was ready to pull it on.

As a beginner on this hobby and hopeful idiot, I thought this candy would be the greatest investment I made in years, but since I bought this candy
I haven't able to put it back and restore it the way I have wished for. So yeah, the guy who sold me this candy on a Facebook group, sell me a Frankensteined piece of junk
that now I need to learn how to repair from the basics.

Do I regret it? absolutely NOT.
I'm learning stuff I would never dared or had the time to know about it and I'm taking this as a learning experience rather than taking all this situation pessimistically.
So as you, I would not wish other people commit the same mistake I did, thankfullly my wife is there to remind me about this experience everyday lol.

Back to the topic,

I got a MS9 Chassis from Yaton and I read a comment above that my monitor is compatible, GREAT to know - Also, after 4 months, I received the CRT Adaptors I ordered from EBAY and I'll use these to repair the MS8 adaptor that was damaged months ago. Hopefully this would at least help me restore the CRT to an extent and be able to play some games at least.

So thank you all for your support! I'll keep you update on my progress.

Nice day!

You might want to read the top of that page " Disclaimer: This is a writeup of my experiences and observations "
Not all observations and experiences are the same, mine in various area's are similar but not all the same by any means, I'm not about to go into details regarding what I have written or done with all types of Japanese monitors but my experience started well before Nanao.
Just an example from the page you mention " This monitor may be best known for its usage in the Sega New Astro City and Taito Egret II cabinets"
This is definitely not the case at all, the MS8 and MS9 series were used in the highest selling games in arcade history , Daytona USA, with millions more going into Sega Rally Championship , ManxTT superbikes, Virtua Cop 2 , Time Crisis 2 , Sega VS City and a huge list of others , The New Astra City and Taito's Egrett II cabs combined made up around 9% of their market.
Of all the Nanao's I see upright cabs, Egrett , Astro's make up less than 0.6% of them, all the other dedicated cabs have seen all sorts of manufactuer / distributor in house mods that just didn't happen in these upright cabs.
Having said all this, Mikes webpage is a great resource with some really good information because there is very little out there of any substance.
