Same process as any other pcb. You replace the ram chip with a larger variant and lift the high address pin then run a bodge wire to the appropriate address pin on the main bus (typically directly to the cpu)

This is so cool. I will definitely be down to use one of my boards for this effort. I have the tools and skills available to do the fine pitch soldering, I'm not terribly worried about that aspect.

That pitch is large compared to modern electronics. Anyone who can install an HDMI mod in a console, or any work at all in a handheld, tablet, laptop or cell phone can do this work. Yes, it looks terrifying for people who are not skilled, but it *is* fully reversible and not any sort of dangerous procedure.
All I've done is say the other thread got closed, which is true. I'm not sure why you're quoting me here. I have changed the title, and I'll happily ignore any post that says boot moving forward, but there's nothing I can do about other people typing it, so you may need to moderate those people directly, I guess? You have that power, I don't.
kindof doubt that people do work on much smaller pitch than tsop48 which has 0.5mm pitch tbh. What modern ics have smaller pitch than that?
Maybe some tqfp with extremely tight pitch has slightly tighter but dunno.
Yeah its doable by skilled people but lets not exaggerate here either

It's my fault, and I've edited my post above to remove the offending text.
I don't mean to come off rude, but let's please stop derailing yet again over the same thing. Any modern electronics repair place can do this work and does on a daily basis. I can do it and have hundreds of times at this point across 125+ neo carts, as well as converting the same cv1000 about two dozen times now. And I'm hardly as skilled as some.
I'd really like to put this into perspective: This is the same exact pitch required on the CPS3 cart's flashrom and SH2. So the idea that this is some insurmountable obstacle is very silly, because it's done quite regularly right here on the forum for a project that is designed by the admins (yes I know they also sell carts, but reviving your own has always been encouraged). Plus this is easier than trying to mess with replacing the SH2 because it's not a QFP.
So if we can please yet again, move on, keep things focused on the project, and stop talking about boots and the pitch of the flashrom (not singling you out @buffi, just trying to keep ahead of it). Thanks!

I will add my two cents here.
I learned how to solder starting in 2020 as a hobby.
I started with cheap broken consoles. Mostly Xbox as they were under $30 broken shipped.
I have a graveyard of salvage boards I oopsied but still use components off of to repair others.
Microsoldering is indeed very easy once you are good at it.
It is easy to make it look easy once you are good.
I've recapped & repaired well over 150 boards and I am still learning things.
Please hire this out if you are not a pro, as simple as it seems.
It is indeed simple once you have the skills & hours into microsoldering.
It isn't if you don't, and it surprisingly doesn't pay well despite the hours and skill required because once you get good, it is easy.
I am looking forward to this project being released and like most here would use a boot to access the library as I am not made of money.
Frankly it is the only way I would get to enjoy these great titles on original hardware.
Which is the whole reason I learned to solder. I LOVE original hardware.
Multis & Everdrives Imho are ethical past 10 ish years or 2 console generations old.
If its new buy it. If not...my two cents.

Hi, did I read this correctly that a possible multi is only going to work with the bootleg PCBs?
If possible I'd probably prefer to just convert my legit Ibara.

No it will work with legit PCBs. But due to the cost of originals, the risk of potential damage and the fact a bootleg exists so an original doesn’t need to be sacrificed the bootleg is recommended
