My vortex mvs not coining up in my 4 slot ..
But fine in one slot ..
Pretty much speaks for it being my 4 slot may be dirty pins ..

Are these carts known to have issues in 3-5 consoles, or maybe its just my console that needs some repair? I have also tried it in another 5v console (POW/POW-2) and there, it simply will not boot properly.
Yeh i have a few of each too ..As an owner of 2x 4 slots, a 2 slot and various 1 slots, it's nearly always dirty pins. Even if you just move a cart from one machine to another.
FYI @leonk my 3-5 CPU is marked as a HD68HC000PS12.
Unfortunately I haven't. I dont have any soldering skills, so all my consoles are unopenedOut of interest, have you done a recap of your 3-5 system, as that was next on my list?
It's dead simple. Five wires from the programmer to the cart, unzip one small program, put in two lines in command prompt, and press enter. Wait about 6 seconds. Sometimes you have to install a driver. And would save the international shipping costs.
I sure don't mind doing it, but I know international shipping is awful.
The FT232H is cheaper/easier. Don't have to power the board separately, you don't have to mess with quartus, and don't cost a few hundred bucks.

Just took some photos, the 3-6 that works with rewrite's cart has the HD68HC000PS12 one. Hope this helps! The issue you see is not specific to a revision, but a fundamental difference between the 2 systems which I've yet to figure out. I've seen 3-6 systems that show the same graphical issues you have. I believe the issue might go beyond the power supply used and is at the component level. But I don't have enough AES revisions here to confirm this. If you still have both AES systems, and are able to open the 3-6 and 3-5 systems, can you look at the CPU and report back? It would either be a HD68HC000PS12 or TMP68HC000N-12. I'd be especially interest to find out what is in the 3-6.
