As an owner of 2x 4 slots, a 2 slot and various 1 slots, it's nearly always dirty pins :). Even if you just move a cart from one machine to another.
 
99% Iso Alcohol followed by dexoit can do wonders for both pins and slots. Dexoit actually works well.

I have exactly the same issue with my AES vortex cart (and my MVS vortex cart via a Fusion converter), on my 3-5 system. Again, I thought it was power supply related, but using the original or a decent third-party PSU shows the same graphic corruption.

Out of interest, have you done a recap of your 3-5 system, as that was next on my list?

FYI @leonk my 3-5 CPU is marked as a HD68HC000PS12.

Unfortunately I haven't. I dont have any soldering skills, so all my consoles are unopened 🙂
My plan was to sell the 3-5 in favor or a 3-6, but since there is no guarantee for now that a 3-6 will work, I will just wait a bit.
 
Same graphical issue with vortex cart and aes 3-5. Weird thing is some games looks just fine (kof 98, xenocrisis).
 
I also get graphical issues on my 3-5 5v. This improves with using a higher voltage but this doesn’t always resolve the issue.

My 3-6 9v works fine but I have bad jailbars (which I need to fix).
 
I also have graphics issues on all games on the Vortex cart on my AES 3-5 9v. It has the Hitachi CPU so I am going to try switching this to the Toshiba CPU.

I sure don't mind doing it, but I know international shipping is awful.

The FT232H is cheaper/easier. Don't have to power the board separately, you don't have to mess with quartus, and don't cost a few hundred bucks.

Not having much luck with this, did anyone try using the Teyleton FT232H above, mine shows no sign of life and unable to see anything on the 161 board.

Presume the Teyleton is dead on arrival so ordered another.

I believe the issue might go beyond the power supply used and is at the component level. But I don't have enough AES revisions here to confirm this. If you still have both AES systems, and are able to open the 3-6 and 3-5 systems, can you look at the CPU and report back? It would either be a HD68HC000PS12 or TMP68HC000N-12. I'd be especially interest to find out what is in the 3-6.

Just took some photos, the 3-6 that works with rewrite's cart has the HD68HC000PS12 one. Hope this helps!
 
I had nothing but a good experience with Rewrite. He even helped trouble shoot a tiny issue that was caused by my MVS slot needing cleaned and some deoxit added to make all games work and sound fine.
 
I sold my extra cart I got from Leon for $350 which is about how much I paid for it after all. Im waiting on my backbit cart, once it arrives and is confirmed to work well, I'll likely throw my current one up for sale too.

I think he meant "how much can I fleece someone on this", rather than what's the good-guy resale price. :whistling:
