NEOGEO + AES Multigame cartridge - NEW POLL INCLUDED. PLEASE VOTE!

Bank switching allowed SNK to surpass the original 330 spec. So 'Giga Power' is essentially marketing for larger games.

So @Darksoft - any chance of you getting us some new video demos and/or a release date as a holiday gift? ;-)

Absolutely agree. No doubt that many of those people that would complain about a failed CRC check on a flash cart, happily play on a Chinese multi with bad dumps and injected code. It's just a way to create drama. Also: I feel like I opened a can of worms with the 'purist' word. I don't even...

Precisely. This is why it was such a big deal when Raz did his testing of the NeoSD. Regardless: if what @Darksoft says is true regarding the NeoSD's tool decrypting roms, then certainly a "win" for him would be to not only create a tool that does the same thing, but to make one that is much...

I agree. My 'purist' attitude stops at being able to get roms running on native hardware. So long as the decrypted roms supply the same experience as running encrypted, it makes no difference to me. Now waiting 2.5 minutes vs 18 seconds for KOF2k3 to load? That's something I do care about. :-)

NeoSD? That's not a DarkSoft project, is it?

@Derick2k - Totally room for both carts, and totally great for consumers. Keep in mind: this is the Neo Geo market we're talking about. Buying both carts at some point for some people isn't exactly out of the realm of possibility. We're used to setting our money on fire at the alter of SNK. ;-)

Encrypted sets appeal to the purists. I get it, honestly. If the goal is 'perfect', then using decrypted sets falls short of that goal. IIRC, aren't there still a few games where the encryption hasn't been cracked? I remember it only being 1, possibly 2 games at this point. (and not including...

NeoSD? That's not a DarkSoft project, is it?

Nice. Although one could argue that the SD2SNES did the same thing to the Super Everdrive. ;-)

I brought it up. GadgetUK did a great review of the NeoSD on his YT channel, and noted power usage of it vs the various multi carts. It just got me curious where Darksoft's solution is on the scale, that's all. I didn't mean anything by it. Just 100% curiosity. I'm a nerd, and this is a place...

NEOGEO + AES Multigame cartridge - NEW POLL INCLUDED. PLEASE VOTE!

I've read every post. I've been here since day one. I was simply asking if he had a number. The tone of this forum has changed since the launch of the NeoSD. It seems to be much more cynical now. They made it to market first (and out of nowhere), and that certainly seems to have kindled a...

So it seems I should just assume the answer to any future questions will be 'ours will be better'?

Clearly he's not looking to fry anyone's system. I was just curious if he had an actual number yet. If the answer is no, then that's fine.

@Darksoft - Quick request for information: what's the power draw like on the cart? I know the 161 multi is pretty high, and it seems the NeoSD is actually the same as a standard MVS cart. Just curious to know where it falls on the spectrum. Thanks!

NeoSD? That's not a DarkSoft project, is it?

I've been lurking on this forum since the beginning. It's awesome that your cart is close to being done. And it's also awesome that we're looking at TWO Neo flash carts on the market. I'm eagerly awaiting both options to be available before I make a decision. (but I'll admit some bias towards...

    Greetings from Portland!

Well, I managed and did repair work in an arcade for a few years in the 90s, which pretty much cured me of ever wanting any machines in my house. :-) My collection these days is mostly hardware related. I'm not really a 'collector' in the sense that I acquire new stuff. It's mostly just that I...

    Greetings from Portland!

Indeed. Definitely keeps the hobby fun. I visited your site. Love the candy cab collection. :-) This time of year, Portland is rainy. ;-) I did indeed go to the Retro Expo this year. It was crazy how big it has gotten. It was easily twice the size of last year. Surprisingly, there were a lot of...

OK, finally read through everything. Good stuff. My only 'request' is that this thing fits into a standard MVS shell. :-) I like my neat row of Shockboxes. Plus, I laser cut a cart slot in my CMVS (MV1C based) case, and I'd hate to have to redo it. Selfish, I know.
