Nanao MS8-29FSG Interference From The Wall Behind It

Sorry for the late update to anyone wondering- work has been nuts. Thank you for correcting me on this, to me it looked like Amazon had the same thing- nope. Never again will I make that mistake, lol. I ordered it straight from DigiKey (their shipping prices were reasonable and my order was...

Nanao MS8-29FSG Interference From The Wall Behind It

So one Amazon order later and I'm still finding the monitor isn't refreshing when I hit the Degauss button. ?( I'll include some pics below so you can see how I hooked up the wires (I tried both wires in positions 5 and 6 just to make sure I didn't have anything crossed) and still nothing. Not...

Nanao MS8-29FSG Interference From The Wall Behind It

:wideyed: Whoa... The more you know! In that case, would it be worth buying a Degaussing Wand? Looks like new OS Astro PSUs are selling for around $2-300, which is fine but not sure if that's necessary, considering otherwise everything is working how it should be... (?) Appreciate the responses!

Nanao MS8-29FSG Interference From The Wall Behind It

I don't have a Degaussing Wand yet, as I've never really needed one... maybe until now? I did flip the power on/off for a few minutes at a time, as I read this can help the monitor naturally degauss itself (?) but I haven't noticed a big change.

Nanao MS8-29FSG Interference From The Wall Behind It

I have two Astro Cities that are side by side, up against a wall. Recently moved my game room around (with everything revolving around the placement of my cabinets) and SUPRISE- my P2 monitor does not like where it's placed. I did some troubleshooting by turning the cabinet 90 degrees clockwise...

    Positive feedback for hoagtech

Purchased a CPS1 board from Hoagtech- it looks and works as expected (if not better) on my setup. Quick responses, and even quicker shipping, would def buy from again, without a doubt. Thank you!!!

Warming flyback issue in my Astro City (MS8 monitor)

Ohh I see. I didn't know that. The other day my monitor wasn't turning on at all so I'm sending the chassis away to be looked at. Too many odd/random issues.

    Flyback swap compatibility

    Thanks for the info dude!

    Flyback swap compatibility

As someone who is new to the world of arcade machines and their additional required maintenance, of course the number one question is how to keep my monitors working at close to 100% for the longest period of time. But when something goes wrong (for instance a problem a simple cap kit won't...

Warming flyback issue in my Astro City (MS8 monitor)

In terms of epoxy, would you recommend a certain brand? And is it a good idea to epoxy the pots in place? Or do you mean the flyback to the chassis itself? We did experience a few traces on the chasis which seemed to lift with the heat of the solder from various caps being replaced and then had...

Warming flyback issue in my Astro City (MS8 monitor)

Our original reasoning for performing the cap-kit was due to a high-pitched frequency which was coming from the monitor. We were'nt sure what specifically was causing it, and the frequency only seemed to occur once every so often, but when it did, it was loud and quite annoying. One of the caps...

Warming flyback issue in my Astro City (MS8 monitor)

To clarify what you were saying concerning heat and electronics not mixing, that's why I was thinking perhaps putting a fan on the edge of the cabinet shell (with air blowing onto the chassis) would be a smart fix. Though in terms of replacing the flyback, they don't make the flyback for the...

Warming flyback issue in my Astro City (MS8 monitor)

The other day a friend of mine and I did a full cap kit on my MS8-29FSG in my astro. We found that after turning the monitor back on, the flyback became quite hot and gave off a lot of heat in a short amount of time. We actually removed the metal casing on the chassis which enclosed the...

Astro Nano MS9 high pitch ringing

i heard this can be the issue as well, would a cap-kit solve this (planning on recap anyway) or is the coil something totally separate I need to purchase?

Astro Nano MS9 high pitch ringing

Ill definitely look into this!! Also, I have to correct myself that the monitor actually is an MS8-29, not the MS9.

Astro Nano MS9 high pitch ringing

So the monitor inside my astro is omitting a high-frequency tone. I was working with an arcade-tech friend of mine who thinks it could need a re-cap, or possibly could be a voltage issue, but we're not 100% sure. The ringing seems to change pitch when the flyback is touched or nudged (we were...
