2x6's DVD or HDD clone to SSD/CF-IDE

Alright I can confirm Fate Unlimited Codes works with a CF card! Using a Sandisk Ultra 8 gb card and this adapter, it loads hella quickly and plays perfectly! Made the CF using dd command on Linux. Having issues getting GvGN to work however, will update soon.
what is the image size you have done thanks to dd?

Both Gundam Next and Fate have 80gb images, however the CF finishes writing at 7.6gb (max writable space). Both games are supposedly way under this size, and the remaining data is simply dummy data to fill the original hard drive. If you DD you will always get a space error, but the CF itself should work regardless.

Ok so you force the writing good news. Now you re able to make an image from the CF itself , correct ?

I'm not sure I follow, I'm not making the image from the CF card, I'm writing an existing 80gb image to the card itself, not ripping the image from the card.

yes i know but now you have the CF working. so you can now create an image from CF also.

Fate CF works, Gundam one doesn't. I assume I could make an image of the Fate one but the Gundam one would be useless.

it was a theorical question :) but if you can make the cf image it will be great and nice...thx

That's awesome. Thanks for trying it!

I checked the Gundam Next image with a hex editor. There is nothing after 6.25GB, just empty space, so it should fit fine on a 8GB card.

It seems different games have different drive requirements.

Yeah thats what I heard, supposedly defor got it working so it is possible, just gotta keep experimenting. I wonder if stopping the dd at around 6.3 gb will produce different results.

In general being able to move away from moving media is great, fingers crossed we can reliably get other games working too...

For Fates Unlimited - all you did was get an 8Gig CF card, that adapter - and dd'd the HDD over to the CF card and it worked like a charm?

I have tried doing hard drive copies over to SSD's etc using that method and unless it was the exact same hard drive, couldn't get it to work.

I used the archive .img file, then used Linux to dd the file to the CF card. The file will write up until it fills the card (it may give an error regarding it not having enough space but this won't matter). Make sure the adapter is set to master, and it should work perfectly with your dongle.

The secret is in the CF card, @VS_Lilith can you show us a detailed picture of your CF card please ?

Thanks, can you take out the card and take a picture of the back of it and the numbers on the side of the card please ?
