What's new

A mouse f****** my Cyber Lead. Time for a restoration.

I’ve plugged in the VGA cable directly from the Mistercade to the chassis. I also did more monitor tweaking. I’m sure there’s more I could adjust but it’s good for now. Here are the final pics in daylight. The lighting for a lot of my pics hasn’t been great I know. Those drip marks on the monitor are clearly visible. I’ll see how I go for a few months before deciding to leave it or polish them out.

Ooof! And finally got it back inside again. The path from the garage to the house is rough and I’m praying the shaking doesn’t cause any issues. But we’re all good. The stereo sound on the CPS games is unreal. One speaker is still slightly louder than the other. All that’s left is for a slightly redesigned marquee to go in and to make a kick harness with parts that are on the way.

I received the parts to make a little extra button harness to connect to the Mistercade. I used a slightly too large wire gauge but the crimps should hang on. The Hirose (CPS 2) end was fine but the EL end wanted a max of 20 AWG.

Well I took the plunge and started swapping out SMD capacitors on the sound amp. After two or three I’d plug the board back in and try it out to see if it had solved the problem. I didn’t want to do any more of these little fellas any more than necessary. It was only when I did the last two that it resolved the problem. One SMD I ordered the wrong size and so left that one. Lucky it wasn’t the dud. It was my first SMD removal and soldering experience. It wasn’t pretty. Some came off and went on okay, but I lifted two pads in the process and had to glue them down. Let’s see if it all holds up.

I was just about to start vectorizing the side-art on my CyberLead and thought I'd triple-check that no one had done it before, and found this thread. I'm sort of reasonably certain you posted this after I picked up my cab which is why I never saw it before now, and honestly I think you're a terrible person. This looks so good I can't do the half-assed job I was planning anymore. Amazing work, you've raised the bar (damn you).

Did you ever share the art you had made? I've done the logo itself but not the side-art.

@NFGx you’ve come to the right place. I’m happy to share it with people like you doing a resto - plus your posts and website have helped me out also. I’m on holiday at the moment but will send you some links when I’m free.
