Analog Flightstick HOTAS panel : Star Wars edition

Yes, I can share that one. Also just did a testprint of the angled version.

Man, I had your part printed and installed, and it vastly improved the ergonomics and the look of that otherwise vertical joystick!

Thank you for making this idea a reality !

The angle of the stick looks much more comfortable, and makes more sense for flight games like Afterburner or Sega Strike Fighter. I can't wait to get my panel and install these on there also. Thanks for sharing!

thank you for making the suggestion. It was a great idea!
To be fair, the other reason why I stopped working on that idea was because I could not believe a 3D printed part could ever be sturdy enough to serve as main axis for this joystick.

Testing it yesterday proved me wrong. And, well, even if it eventually breaks, it's just a 3D printed part, easy to replace.

Great job, mate.

Initially I started to redesign to whole grip but then had the idea to just do an insert. Printing at an angle is key for parts like that. Printing upright it would break immediately.

Thanks to the latest improvements of Hikaru emulation, Planet Harriers is now playable 👀

I've never had the chance to play this game before, but yeah it is a fantastic game that we can finally all play !

I'm definitly gonna make a panel with a single analog joystick for this game an many others that don't use a throttle controller and will benefit from having the stick sorta positionned at the center of the panel (Space Harrier, Night Striker, Star Wars Trilogy etc).

I'd like to bring to your attention that, even if not tested, if one would make a panel with two angled joysticks set as throttle with the restrictors, that panel would look kinda like this:

😁

When I posted this, I was far from expecting I'd eventually make it real only a year after. But yeah, since I had an extra pair of gundam sticks, and Hikaru emulation made a huge leap, here it is 🥰

Unfortunately, as you can see by the end of the video, the controls always ultimately cease responding, and I end up crashing. That does not seem to be due to Demul though, but some interface issue. 🤔

But still, extremely satisfied to have this at home, and very enthusiastic to make it 100% work 😁

you been getting pretty famous recently on my algorithms lol. I wanna build a planet harriers cab now because of you haha

I can't stress enough how good these sticks are, even more now that nnap designed the raiser, and how many huge arcade hits they allow you to play.

They are getting scarcer on YAJ, last pair I saw sold for like $250.

Grab them while you can.

@Fredo how to these sticks connect to PC ? GP2040 CE?
I'm using a WIP "PicoJVS" JVS to USB converter.

I've been able to use it well so far, with MAME, Teknoparrot, Model 2 and Model 3, even PS2 emulator. It works fine with Demul when playing Planet Harriers, but Star Wars Racer forces me to use XOutput.

And I believe XOutput is responsible for the controls crashing, since Planet Harriers works fine and it's basically the same panel with no XOutput.

I'll try with an A-Pac.

I am also using PicoJVS. Works great for Battle Pod. Have not tried it with others.

we scooped up a lot of 12 of them last year I was going to use them for projects to build kit cabinets to sell
