Posted on a couple different forums with less than stellar response, so I'm hoping maybe someone on here has a DM/Pop'n/GF/something and has experienced similar issues.

My cab's overlaying the game picture with the software/hardware/device ID's and refuses to let you push start. Start works in the test menu, so I know it's not an issue with the cabinet. I'm assuming that the ID window is the "focus" and the game behind it isn't receiving inputs, if that makes sense.

Anyone seen this before? Ideas on getting rid of it?

Things I know:
Start button works in the I/O test menu. Actually, everything works in the I/O test menu aside from the red drum (I cut the wire reinstalling the 4 left drums).

It won't start in either Free Play or paid play modes.

Won't start in Game Mode or Event Mode.

HDD passes ROM check.

eAmusement is turned off via Dipswitch (anyone know what the other 2 dips do? I know 4 changes resolution).

I've tried with eAmusement both on or off in settings. Network is turned off at present, though I did try leaving it on and running an ethernet cable across the house.

Software, Device, and Hardware ID's stay floating on top of everything all the time:

Does it work if you put it on freeplay?
Does it start a game if you insert your e-amuse card instead of pushing start?

Doesn't work on freeplay or paid play. I don't have a card reader, so trying that's not an option unfortunately. I've tried both with eAmuse on, and off in settings.

I updated the original post with more information.

Are you sure everything needed is connected? I dont have the system but I have seen similar issues, and mostly they point out that its due to certain hardware not being connected to or detected by the motherboard. Can you post pics of your setup/hardware and how everything is connected?!

Anyways, found this online. OMGKON.COM, you can email the guy at omgkon573@gmail.com, visit his website, he seesm to do a lot of work on these systems.

kon likes to hack things up... Instead of wiring up connectors for the lights and power for his DM 1st mix to DM V series he soldered every wire from the cab to the motherboard... He's not a role model of any sort, to be quite honest...

My understanding from talking to some IIDX owners is that they can get it to do that if they mash a few different buttons all during startup. But mine does this regardless of what cab it's in. Everything is 200% connected as the schematics ask for.

Kon guy was just a quick search, I have no knowledge of him.

Any reason why it does not display a system id numbers?

You probably did this already, but:
1. Have you tried restoring it to factory settings? Holding down the test button while powering on the board should do it?
2. Also, how about reinstalling the game from the disc. Dip switches 1-3 show up as reserved, and apparently do nothing so they should be in the off position. Dip 4 is to load from CD or Flash, should be off to install the game from disc.

Also what do you mean by this. "Actually, everything works in the I/O test menu aside from the red drum (I cut the wire reinstalling the 4 left drums)" so those re drum is not working/connected?

Post pics of the board/setup/security dongles, etc. might give people a better idea of what you are working with.

You're looking at info on the older setup. I'm running a BemaniPC for V series 4-8. There's no disc involved.

The drum's been reconnected since then. I can take pics in the morning.

can you take a pic of your dip switches.
1, 2, 3 off, 1 and 4 on.

1 Turns on/off eAmuse. I don't have a card reader, so eAmuse has to be off. My understanding is it shows no system ID because eAmuse hasn't given it an ID. Should be irrelevant as v7 was the last title to not require eAmuse.

2 & 3 no one can seem to tell me what they do.

4 is 15/31k switch, DM doesn't support 31, so it's set to 15k.

Honestly I think my drive is whack... Going to mess around and see if I can either get an alternate method up and running, or if I can find someone who has a drive image they'll share with me.

You on *that other forum* by chance?

Ignore the fact that the PC is wide open, I keep taking the drive out often enough to make it not worth putting back together. Same reason I'm testing in the Blast City too, just too much work to spin the DM around every time.

Try setting them all to off, this is the response I am getting from a few forums.

No can do. Game doesn't support 31k, just get a pic that won't sync.
Try only having Dip 4 on then. Also, have you turned off e-amuse and closed the shop in the system menu?
Dip 4 is the only one on. I've also tried every combination of Dips 2/3 to no avail. Having Dip 1 on gives me the no card reader error.

I've tried with and without e-Amuse on, not sure what you mean about the shop.

DDR has a shop open/close setting on some of the later hardware (Python 2 or Bemani PC, I forget which). It's why I mention it. Not familiar enough with Drummania's menus.

Try running some wire from the Jamma harness (pin 17 and a ground) to a push button to see if you can get it to start that way. That'll at least rule out the front button on the cabinet acting up.

I've tried that too :).

There's a shop menu, asks you for your prefecture and shop name, I messed with that a bit, tried all different settings, but didn't get anywhere. I've also turned off Network entirely to no avail.
