Hi all,
Would anyone be interested in a restored/upgraded OG Xbox? I am finishing this up in the next couple of days :)

- Electrolytic caps replaced as required
- Supercap replaced
- Motherboard cleaned
- Thermal paste replaced
- Console stripped down to plastic shell and cleaned
- RF shields cleaned, rust removed, primed and painted
- Failed hard drive replaced (2TB)
- Modchip installed (required for HDD replacement - can be disabled)
- Disc Drive operation confirmed

Pictures will be posted after everything is completed, in progress photos or photos of anything specific available on request
 
While I am spending money like a drunken sailor... I also ordered cases from @Semload. He's putting together a cool new generic case so put myself down for a few of those and an S16 one.

The postage is eye watering but such is life. However, wanted to see if anyone in here wanted to get in on the postage. I'll pay mine regardless so you can include yours in my order and just pay for the on forwarding.

Jaycar taking the piss. $129.95 for a 500g roll of that crap?

Had to buy some supplies for work and was shocked at the prices of most of their basic stuff now, let alone all the AliExpress AIO arcade crap they’ve got there.

Bring back Tandy and OG Dick Smith any day. I still have a battery card from Tandy I wanna cash in this month ;)
 
Indeed. Used to be more expensive than ordering online but not unreasonable, especially if it meant you could have what you needed today and continue on with whatever you’re working on

$130 for a roll of no name brand solder is way out there. My local Jaycar store has really reduced a lot of their range too, not sure if that’s happening at all stores or they’re just out of stock of things
 
I’ve got some faulty PCBs to move on, some may be able to be fixed but I don’t have the time - others are parts boards.
