Hello everyone. First of all i'm a noob in the arcade world, that's why i'm kindly asking for your input. So the question is regarding the Nanao MS2930, the blast city is connected to a Neo Geo Motherboard and it the video looks REALLY red (and the scanlines a bit rough). Does anyone here know why it's like this and what can be done to solve the problem? Thank you very much in advance.

My (wild) guess is that it is not properly calibrated. i've also seen that it might be the red transistor that's damaged and might need to be replaced.

Game is KOF 97 just in case, even though most of you probably know.

Thanks for the guide but i don't have the cab yet. i was wondering if it is something fixable and if so, if it's due to it not being properly calibrated, due to a need to be recaped or anything else. Because if the fix is "get another monitor" i would have to ask the seller for it or at least to give me a discount.

Send him the guide. Ask him to follow it. Then ask him to send you pics of the results.

There’s no other way of telling. If he can’t get it looking good it could be a multitude of things gone wrong and there’s no way I personally would recommend buying a cab with such a bad image straight off the bat. A Blast City nonetheless.

Does not look so bad to me (as in very likely fixable with only calibration and not part failure). If your colour drive transistor is problems then you will lose colour completely or colour is completely on. When it is fully on you will see very colour washed screen with retrace lines.

This problem looks much more like adjusting drive/cuts to balance out the cathodes. If you cannot adjust out then would be wise to hook up to CRT analyzer and see how close the emissions are between them.

Thanks for your help @brad808 . i do feel like that's the issue as well, but since it's gonna be my first cabinet i wanted to know what people here would say. i also know a guy who fixes arcade monitors so i always have a backup if neither me or the seller can fix/calibrate it.

I thought it might be missing green too…. But there’s not much green on that screen in the first place - and there is yellow; you can’t make yellow without green. So I agree it’s probably just in need of calibration and that all guns are at least firing.

Yes plus there is lots of white by the looks of it (credit, Character images,) so seems all colours present

Ah yes, and white... And there I thought I was being clever about noticing the yellow! Brain fried today ;)

when I bought my blast it was missing green. it was the damn neck board not being fitted on properly. so maybe you'll get lucky with something simple like that.

Mine was missing red. And my tube had to be replaced.

I had that issue on a blast tube it turned out to be a bad transistor on the neckboard. If I were you I'd try to get a discount because sending it out for repair or sourcing a replacement chassis will be at least 200.00. If the seller has another blast kindly ask him to swap the chassis and see if the issue persists.

On top of the monitor having off colors, the control board is mounted in an odd place (it's usually inside the control panel, not on the frame), and the cab itself looks to be (probably badly) repainted. The repaint is a guess from me, since the photo quality isn't the best, but the left speaker grill looks like it got a bit of over spray. The 2L12B panel also looks to be a cheap repro since the colors look pretty off.

Exercise caution before you commit to this cab. Blast Cities aren't very beginner friendly. Parts are much harder to find and the chassis + PSU are more cumbersome to maintain. There's a ton more caps to replace for both items vs more common cabs. Also if you want this to be a Neo Geo focused cab, you need an adapter, or you wont have the D button.

So this is the feedback i got from the seller.

First of all @DMRSX here's the picture you told me to ask for.

The seller said that won't calibrate / adjust the monitor, that i could do it myself. My issue is that i'm not sure if with calibrations i'll get the video working with the proper colors.

The "extreme" scanlines i've been told that it's because the monitor is set to run at 24khz while neo geo games run at 15khz.

Hope any of you can let me know (by that RGB image test they've sent me) if i'll be able to properly correct the image (since it's showing the green color).

Thanks again everyone.
