Budget Naomi Analog Sticks

You can play monkeyball with the regular analogue stick casually and it works but keep in mind for the later levels you don't have the precise control of the jlk gf2 at stick/amp used on the original cab.

Old thread I know but
I’m rigging the old system up

Question I have is can anyone enlighten me to why I have resistors inline on the pot
Wires of the analog stick ?

Resistors would offset the minimum value I think. Maybe it was to calibrate it?

Bumping this. Just bought the budget sticks. Anybody end up using them in the later levels with monkey ball? How did they play?

Played some monkey ball with them today. They work pretty damn good.

Bumping to say thanks @notsonic and everyone!

I can confirm that Monkey Ball works with these sticks + the Tucson Logic JVS-Bridge I/O as well. Just install the analog firmware and make sure the wires go to the correct pins on player 2 (J6):

White (channel 0) --> J6 pin 13
Red (channel 1) --> J6 pin 14
Black (5v for Monkey Ball only) --> J6 pin20
Yellow (ground for Monkey Ball only) --> J6 pin 12, 17, or 18 (all ground pins are shared on the board)

Once Monkey Ball booted up, I had to go into the game's test menu and select "joystick calibration". It asks you to rotate the joystick a few times and then release. Save and exit, and then your monkey will actually sit rock solid when the stick is neutral.

I noticed that you reach max velocity/tilt before the stick hits the gate edge--which is good--but I would like to increase the range just a little bit more. Probably I would adjust those resistors on the stick a little to do that?

I forgot to give a little update on the resistors. It seems like adjusting them does not make the tilt area bigger or wider overall, but rather only smaller on the horizontal or vertical axis. Basically, the resistors already arrive in the best position for the widest and most equal tilt sensing possible. The stick is just designed to hit max tilt sensing a bit early before hitting the gate.

But if you need to adjust them, any adjustments can be done with the naomi powered on, and while looking at the analog input numbers.

Hi Can you post a link to sticks and Tuscan Loic pcb thanks 😉
Just in case you need a link for the JVS: https://tucsonlogic.com/

Works perfectly!

Not with a single stick as most racing games require separate pots for accelerate/brake.

So i cant play like pc game, accelerate up brake down and normal left right? Any one try?
