Hi all,

I hope you are all well. I am new to arcade boards. I have struggled to find a custom case that would fit my intended first arcade board (SF II Turbo: Hyper Fighting), so I would like to use a CPS 1.5 case. A friend told me a Hyper Fighting board would fit fine and showed me a photo partially showing someone having done this:

But it looks like the CPS 1.5 filter board may not accept the JAMMA end/ connector. Or, will it? And would there be enough clearance in the CPS 1.5 case/ top shell for the kick harness on top of the Hyper Fighting C board? But even if the CPS1 JAMMA connector would fit the 1.5 filter board, I would have no way to use the kick harness. So, I am assuming I would need to use the case without the filter board, or have made, or find a custom CPS1 filter board.

UPDATE: I just noticed the CN4, 5 and 6 pin outs in the CPS 1.5 Dash case, are any of these for a kick harness? Looking at the guide and table at, https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/CPS1#CP_System_Dash, I can see that these pinouts appear to be for button inputs CN4 and CN5, and CN6 for things pertaining to '12v' and 'coin count'. The kick harness as I understand is to enable B4, B5 and B6, though, for Hyper Fighting, so I am also assuming that these pinouts would not work for what I want.

UPDATE: The seller of the CPS 1.5 game with case said that I would need a wire between the C-board and the IO board for getting the kick signals available in front of the case. So, it seems like it should all work. If anyone can confirm if it would though, that would be great.

Any guidance with this would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much,

Waste of time and money buying an expensive CPS1.5 board and case just to have a case for a cps 1 board. CPS1.5 is a 4 board stack with a filter board unsuitable for CPS1.

There is an official CPS1 case that was used on Varth and Quiz World 2 for the Japan market.
To give you an idea of what they look like a Varth one was sold on this thread: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/varth-cps1-boardset-in-shell.13961/
Not the best looking but functional.

There are also a few different custom case designs that would be a good option that were designed for the Capcom CPS1 multi. Just google them.
Hope that helps

Hi @Zx48k,

Kind thanks for your input on this, and yes, it is helpful.

Ah yes, I've seen those CPS1 grey cases but there aren't any available for sale. The CPS 1.5 Dash games are however and I think those cases look a lot better, I just don't like the CPS1/ Varth case. I managed to win a CPS 1.5 game with case for what seems to be a good price and the case looks minty, so I am happy for now and am feeling positive about it and my project for it. Reading through the thread, I can see that opinions differ on the various cases: -

jassin000 said,

"I never really liked the Varth case, its just too basic/simple.
The 1.5 cases are where its at for me, and while I've never seen one opened up in person the CPSChanger cases are also awesome (I think)".

Whilst twistedsymphony in that sale thread said,

"I own a CPS1.5 now and while I'm a big fan of any factory plastic case the CPS1.5 case kinda sucks, still looks nice and is way better than the Varth case but definitely ranks near the bottom in terms of OEM plastic arcade PCB cases".

The latter is unfortunate to read but hey, it is still the best immediate option for me right now an I will see what I think for myself once I have it in hand. But my takeaway from reading through that thread is that it is subjective as opinions clearly differ on the various case types.

It is worth noting that the sale thread you linked above was from 5 years ago, so I would assume that its price/ value is more now for the CPS1 case/ Varth game, or please correct me if I am wrong. Also worth noting that a couple folks in that thread mentioned the CPS1 case being tight for space, though I am not sure if that is applicable for a Hyper Fighting board with kick harness.

I've tried looking but there aren't any CPS1 Multi cases for sale, either. I've reached out to Jasen, though to see if he has any, or can make any more. But then, I'd ideally want mine in black with white for the Capcom logo.

Kind thanks,
