I have two CPS2 B boards giving me trouble. Both were working fine, then they were both exposed to a "bad" A board. (bad move on my part, very dumb). One of them had an infinikey and it killed the key. So when that one booted initially it went to a purple screen. So I installed a new one. Now, both boards exhibit the exact same issue. sometimes when I turn it on it goes to a black screen and that is it. sometimes, after a while it will go to the rom check screen and then boot up. sometimes it will boot to the q sound screen, make the first note and then crash, sometimes it repeats this note and crash cycle. And sometimes, like this morning it boots up and plays perfectly. then i come back to it 15 minutes later and it is a black screen. I tried reseating the rom chips 1 and 2. On both boards when i did this it played perfectly right away. Only when I come back to it later, it wont boot. so, all in all very confusing to me. My thought is that the next step is burning new q sound eproms. Thoughts? could it be something else entirely? Thank you.

I remember having some weird issues once after installing a infinikey, and I found this online:
- Look at the solder side of the P.C.B and locate position 'EXC1'. It is positioned
a little above the 03 to 10 ROM sockets.

- Using a multi meter or small piece of wire short the 3 solder points of 'EXC1'
together for a few seconds
I mean, this is more about using Phoenix roms, but on my x-men vs street fighter, it fixed the problem. It's like there were some leftover data from the original battery, I don't know.

Give it a try!
