Cps2 volume button broken

You'll either have to rig a button up to it have a new set of buttons 3D printed.

Yeah most games you can control it from the service menu. Also, you can control the volume for a CPS2 through the kickharness. You just have to have the wires in use. See link. Pretty easy for the most part. Even if your button is broken. These two options should still help.

PS: Just remember that you need to use the VOLUME GROUND to both VOL+ and VOL-. I do not know what could happen if you use a standard ground wire. I just know that the pin specifies volume has it's own GROUND.

ok, ok i tried taking apart my CPS2 last night and unscrewed the diamond screws and then I find this bolt.

I have read the only way to get it off it to drill it out?

Do i drill from the top or bottom and does it matter?

Any help would be amazing.

thanks,

ok, I got my Volume button the other day and took my CPS2 board. Plugged it in and turned it on and I had lines on the game? I then took it back apart to look at it and put it back together and plugged it in again to test it and everything was fine.

Any buddy know why this happens? I did not do anything diff the 2nd time.

How can I tell if the Battery was ever changed?

usually bad seating between the a and b board from my experience not sure about the battery I'll let the others chime in on that

Has anyone completed the mod using the cps2 kick harness? Pins 29 & 30? How did you wire up ground? From 12v+ pins 5 & 6?

I'm wanting to control my volume with the small red momentary buttons from Digikey in the coin door of a Z back for easy volume control.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Definitely don't try to get ground from the 12 Volt pins! Omigosh you have misunderstood something serious here! =D

^ there are two ground pins near the volume pins, on 33 and 34, but any ground pin will do. If they are already in use you can splice one, or re-wire it with two wires in a new pin, etc.

The rest of your plan is solid, but if you put the volume buttons on the cabinet then you're effectively permanently wiring that kick harness to the cabinet. You might consider a connector of some sort between those buttons and the kick harness connector, so you can remove the harness without removing the buttons.

Also, 3D-printed replacement buttons do exist, if you'd rather fix those on the A board.

Question, can't I tap GND from the coin door?

Or how about the ground on the kick harness itself?
Well, the ground pins I mentioned ARE on the kick harness, and I did say that you could splice into the already-in-use wires, so I'm not really sure what your question is asking. The answer is 'probably, yes, unless you mean something else, then maybe.'

As for the coin door, sure! You can ground it to anywhere that's grounded. But if your cabinet isn't wired to the appropriate standard it's possible that your coin door isn't grounded, or is not grounded to the same ground plane that the PCB is. Test it, if it is, go for it.

I used your guide on that page and got it going. Thanks a bunch for clarifying everything on here.

I took GND from pin 31, put 2 wires on 1 pin.

I could have tapped onto 33 and 34 but decided not to.
