Small tool to extract audio from CV1000 games to .wav files.

https://github.com/alamone/cv1000-to-wav/

CV1000 audio uses AMM ("AMusement Music compression"), looks to be a Yamaha proprietary format based on MPEG Layer 2.5, which supports 16000Hz (used by CV1000) and 32000Hz encoding.

This is one step towards my ultimate goal, which is to re-encode a higher quality soundtrack for SDOJ.

I'll see if I can compile one that works without MSYS installed, give me a bit to research.

Sorry for the necrobumping. I am messing around with u23 to make a custom soundtrack. I noticed cv1000-to-wav only decodes AMM. Do you know enough about the Yamaha AMM format to create an encoder, or is there any documentation on how AMM headers and packets are written? Would be awesome to make a custom soundtrack for ddpdkf

Hi, I've made a MP2-to-AMM converter already, it's basically just MP2 with a slightly different header.

I'm still working on the ultimate goal of making a higher quality soundtrack possible on original hardware. There are two unpopulated positions on the PCB for an additional 8MB of addressable SOUND ROM. This means that, including the existing 8MB of SOUND ROM, it may be possible to increase the sampling rate from the default of 16kHz to an improved 32kHz. Right now it's just a theory, but I plan to validate on actual hardware (bootleg PCB).

Sounds really cool! Basically all CV1000 games could do with some higher quality soundtracks!
Would you mind sharing the MP2-to-AMM converter?

Looking forward to it!
If you ever need someone to test an early build, I'd be happy to help.
