I've had this D9200 sitting around for years, and a few days ago, I picked up this computer from Goodwill for $30.

Sooo this morning, after enjoying some coffee, I had the bright idea to see if I could get it to display something. I had to install fedora linux and connect another monitor to manually add and set the correct resolution, but the picture came right up.

I wasn't entirely sure if it would work at all because, when I turned it on, the menus and other elements appears distorted and split. Does anyone know what might be causing that?
It also has some strange color spots, which I believe a degaussing coil could fix. The one on the tube isn't doing much at all.

Anyway, I’m considering building a wooden case for it to sit in and use specifically for old console games. I might also look into getting an FPGA or one of those tiny Lenovo ThinkCentre computers.

Are there any reasons why this might be a bad idea that I'm overlooking? Playing Mega Man X on it is pretty sweet, lol.

After staining the wood , I think it would have that classic wood-paneled TV vibe, which would be pretty cool IMO. Might even throw some speakers in it.

You're trying to display a resolution that the monitor doesn't support? 800x600 may work, but there's really no reason to use anything higher than 640x480.

I do keep it at 640x480, but it's just the OSD menus and messages that spazzes out. It's really weird and looks super glitchy. I might make a post about it in "Monitor help".

OSD for the monitor? Does the video continue displaying normally when you pull up the OSD or does everything glitch?

Yeah, the image displays normally when I bring up the OSD it's solely the OSD that freaks out. It's super difficult to change the settings because I can't really see it.
