any thoughts why its like that ?All is know is right now I have a Chihiro Crazy Taxi game that is missing a key, and I own the Upright, and Sega’s USA division is unable to sell me one.
What happened? Are you at liberty to say?We learned a few days ago that some companies do still protect their work from 25 years ago so the "Well it's old so they don't care anymore" argument does not work.
Nothing "official" and we hope to keep it that way so at this time, no, we can't speak about it.What happened? Are you at liberty to say?
Understood, hopefully all is well!Nothing "official" and we hope to keep it that way so at this time, no, we can't speak about it.What happened? Are you at liberty to say?
@Finisterre If you plan on decapping the other pics, im all for sending you some donations towards the cost of getting them done.Bottom line: Posting PIC code is ok.
Bottom line: Posting PIC code is ok. Posting game files and roms is not.
Super cool of you guys to let this go forwardWhatever mitsu said. Just bear in mind that if we get a C&D letter, we'll delete whatever they request.
Cartooney
![]()
Term for a legal threat sent solely in the hope of scaring the recipient. Derives from 'Cartoon Attorney'.A Cartooney generally contains promises of legal action, often quoting irrelevant or non-existent laws, and is often written by one who has not consulted a real lawyer and has little intention of doing so. More often than not, the Cartooney sender is on the wrong side of the law to begin with.Sometimes spelled "Cart00ney" to emphasize the comical nature of most Cartoonies, they are often sent anonymously, sent by fictitious lawyers or signed "Legal Department". Many promise to sue under invented laws such as the "Freedom Of Speech Law" or "International Email Law" and are usually written by spammers reacting to what they consider undeserved censure, being publicly identified or added to spam filter blocklists.
that sounds fantastic but if I need to get a lawyer, who's gonna pay for it?Agreed, I hope the fresh energy to the scene can help fix a lot of stuff.
If you comply with any legal demands (judge, IP holder, law enforcement... not just "some lawyer") you will be just fine in my humble and somewhat professional opinion. I've been doing work with rom dumps, legal backups, etc., since NeoMAME and NESticle were relevant (who cares). But, the point is, I don't ever plan on taking legal risks over video games, nor would I ask anyone else to. Finisterre has a good track record of the whole doing it right (TM) motto, so I only see all of this as "good news" for the arcade preservation and gaming "scenes" as a whole.
