Hello from San Remo Victoria

I've been looking for a site like this for some time now, I have a Taito table top gallaga, since 1990, which i am trying to fix, the unit turns on ok but seems to hang and not load the program, hoping someone may know the cause, it's only done this in the last 3 months.

Hey mate, nice to have another Victorian join.

As far as your issue it may be worth pisting a thread about it but... does it pass the RAM test and then hang or does it do it before that?

Good to see Victorians on the site, wasn't sure what to expect.
Thanks for the reply, not sure about the RAM test, I'm a real novice when it comes to the internal workings of the machine, so I'm hoping someone can do a step by step. I put a post on today and see what happens, am I allowed to put a video on to shopw what happens when I turn the unit on ?

Hi Big_p
I could have posted the tread in the wrong, I'll try again later, I'm pretty sure it hangs before doing anything like a RAM check, goes straight into the screen attached, do you have any idea what the problem could be ?

Start with the basics, verify your +5v is good, check the ROM pins are clean and making good contact, verify the ROM data, check/clean the connectors between the two boards and clean the JAMMA edge. See if that helps.
If not there is a bunch of stuff it could be, but at least you know its not any of the above.
