Hi
I'm new to the forums and arcade boards in general. I'm looking to get a crt TV for gaming and at some point a third strike cps3 board. There's a trinitron kv-20fs100 I may be able to get for real cheap, but had a question concerning down sampling and lag. I want to hook my PS3 up to it via component, but from what I've read the highest resolution the TV supports is 480i. For games that run natively at 720p and higher will the down sampling to 480i cause lag? I really don't know much about this stuff so I'm looking for some help to clarify. This forum seems really rad and I'm hoping to learn more about all this cool stuff! Thanks!

No, the PS3 outputs at 480i when using component cables and lower. It will cause no issue. Lag is introduced by the scaler on a LCD because of several issues with the tech of LCD/LED. You'll have zero issues with the PS3 with a crt.

Awesome! Thanks so much for clarifying!

Welcome to the club! One more in the California club too : D
