FS IC: PVM 20L5 boston metro

For Sale
“Thinking $1000, and being able to pick it up Friday between 11 and 12.“

that’s a killer deal right there..if you were local and I could check it out, this would have been SOLD:)
good deal, but also a lot of money, and an admittedly weird logistical requirement.

maybe I’ll just bring it home, compare with my bvm, and sell the “loser” without this crazy pickup scheme (though my preference is still local... it scares me to ship these)

Yes I would highly recommend you do NOT ship it!
Bill had one die in shipping, and I had one die in shipping.

Only way I'd ship it is if the buyer paid me with gift option and stated very clearly first they wouldn't be upset if it never worked when received.

Shipping is fine, so long as it's done right. Crated and freight, or in a flight case.

The problem is when these jerkoffs on ebay want to maximize their profit and try to ship in a cardboard box and wrap it in a single layer of bubble wrap.

Just to wrap this up for now... I took the monitor home. I think the L5 looks amazing if it’s a dark room. Otherwise it has a little bit lighter tube and the bvm looks nicer there. The L5 geometry is nails so that wins there.

Not sure which I’m gonna sell yet so I’ll just consider this thread closed for now.

I also opened up the L5 and found a few brittle pcb supports that deserve fixing before it takes another trip anywhere.

I'm floored at how much a PVM gets nowadays.

Back in 2016 I picked up an XM 29 and a BVM 20 F1U for $25.00. I gave the XM away for nothing and my buddy got the BVM for $25.

Times have certainly changed!

I got a free 36 or 40" PVM from a guy in Manchester, NH in 2006? He helped me get it up our stairwell, took 3 of us and it on a rug to slide it up. Paid him $30 for delivery.

I thought the guy was absolutely insane driving from NY to ME to grab it a few years later for $500, but I've never seen another one since, not even being a stone's throw from LA.
