Ideal PC cases for Arcade PCs

I got some extensions for the 24pin and 8pin, and a 180° adapter for the video card, did some wire management and it's pretty much good to go now.

these can be quite useful in some applications. it's not what I set out looking for when creating this thread but back when I was doing my Kralix MAME cab this would have been perfect (ended up fabricating my own version of this).

do you have a Manufacturer/Model Number or a link?

Hi guys,
I am building a PC for my upcoming Vewlix... I have a potential old PC case available: size 440 x 330 x 180 mm. Do you think it could fit into the cabs? Also, could anyone please share the size of the Vewlix shelf? I Thanks

The shelf is 400x400mm with a 'through height' of about 250mm.

However, Due to the sloped back of the Vewlix you only have about 350mm of depth to play with. So your PC would just about fit in even if overhung a little horizontally but I think you might be a bit tight on the depth as you need to take into account the cables that plug into the back/front of the PC. Depending on the location of the fans in your PC you also might not want the front of the PC right up against the front door of the Vewlix. Obviously if you run the cab with the front and back door off you'll be ok but that might not be what you want.

I've been sorting out a couple of mini and micro atx systems for my two Vewlix's recently:

Neither are particular power houses but they're fine for what I'm running at the moment. I've had the PC in the Cooler Master case for a while and it fits in the Vewlixs lovely. The white Jonsbo C6 case was a recent pickup as I needed to transplant the guts from an older PC into it. The below Silverline case was a pretty small midi case (It used to fit in an Astro City) but it wouldn't fit in the Vewlix's.

I made life hard for myself by picking up a used RTX2060 which I didn't realise was a triple width GPU at the time. I had a real hard time finding a case that would fit inside a Vewlix but would take a triple width albeit short GPU and the Jonsbo C6 was one of the few that fit the bill.

Even though the case is perforated all over the airflow is meant to be pretty shit as the holes are so small. Luckily the panels pop on/off really nicely so I've been using it with most of the panels removed. As the case is quite compact there are not too many cooling options and I could only fit a 120mm fan on the front as stock so I made my own adapter plate to fit a 140mm.

I found out since I could get two 120mm fas on the front so that might be an option if I have issues, so far soo good though but I've not really been playing anything too demanding.

There's plenty of room around the case though:

For reference the Jonsbo C6 is 202 x 266 x 295.2 mm.

I'm planning on making some nicer plates/panels with better airflow for it in the future.

Thanks for the info FrancoB!
That's a great setup! Well done!
My build is on a mAtx mobo at the moment so I could go for a Jonsbo C6 or similar (I have a RX 590 as GPU, so it is not too long), but I would like to go with a better Atx mobo which I have available and my option would be an open frame case 440mm length. Do you think 20mm of overhang on both sides will be an issue? Thanks.

It would 'fit' although it would sit on the rails rather than the MDF board.

This one is 380 x 231 x 381mm (excluding protrusions)

I think that's going to be too big, as I said you only really have about 350mm front to back to play with and even then you might not want to max that out to allow for cables and airflow, although that will depend on fan configuration and orientation of the case in relation to where the cables plug in.

It's good to get some ideas up front but it's one of those things that's better to see and plan 'in the flesh' so you can see what space you have and what else you might be up against. Once you have your cab you can always cut out a piece of cardboard/box to the same size as a case you're looking at and offer it up to the cab.

I got your point FrancoB ..so better to check myself once I have the cab… Yep, I just got excited from the idea to have a nice case ready to go! Perhaps I will make a diy test bench 350x350 mm to work on… and see what’s happen later. Tx for your support 👍

Following the @FrancoB 's size guide, I decide to make a DIY open-case/test-bench for my upcoming Vewlix.
It is a square piece of wood (which is a left back panel from an Ikea bookcase) of 350x350mm essentially, where I designed an ATX PC build installation using fasteners and basic hardware accessories that are always available in my little workshop/gaming-room. I did a basic build as you can see from the following pictures which includes:
- Gaming ATX mobo with a proper CPU cooler, graphic card and WiFi/Bluetooth card installed;
- ATX PSU;
- No.1 HHD + No.1 SSD installed to the bottom;
- Power switch button.
There is room for an additional i/o board or hard drive, but I stay simple for now.
They are all second-hand components except for the PSU and SSD.
Perhaps it can be an inspiration for other users... I can wait to install it inside my Vewlix!
