It's unlikely that the multi is the problem. The card reader works on my multi setup.

I'm not sure what else to suggest other than sniffing the serial communication to confirm that the game is sending communication. This could help rule out a hardware issue on the Lindbergh's serial port. If it is sending, then it's possible it's not receiving.

What do your DIPs look like? Can you confirm they match what @winteriscoming is reporting?

This is what mine are set to and they both use the same hardware, I just swap out the PC. Card Reader and other hardware remain unchanged.

Lindbergh Multi (TOP): OFF OFF OFF ON ON ON OFF ON
RingEdge (BOTTOM): OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF ON ON OFF

I knew on Ringedge that the dipswitch had an importance to launch the game but I did not know that on lindbergh with multi it was the same, I will try again and I will tell you.

Resurrecting this thread.

Was the concensus that Initial D 4 export cards WON'T work in stage 5-8 arcade machines? Asking as ID4 export cards seem to be the only obtainable options at the moment, and I have an ID6 arcade - and I'm in need of some cards...

After reading this thread it wasn't 100% clear. Seemed no one actually tried an ID4 export card in a stage 5-8 JP machine? Just some assumptions, or they tried but it was via their pc trying to do something not on the actual arcade.

Cards have to be the same region as the game to work.

See below:

Please be aware that IC cards are region locked,
So, ID4 Export cards wont work on Japanese cabs and Japanese IC cards won't work on ID4 Export version.

As far as I'm aware all Japanese IC cards from ID4 through to ID8 are compatible with each other.
