What's new
Great progress man, I hope you still took time to have a Happy Thanksgiving and it wasn't all work!

If you want to do some progress image porn for the thread, that would be awesome. I like following along! (if not, no worries!)

I meant to be taking pics as I went along to make a guide but I've forgotten on and off, ha. I'll see what I can do.

May I know if I was added to the waiting list?
You sure were. You can see it on the spreadsheet in the first post, then go to the sheet that says wait list. :)

Here's a smattering of images @XtraSmiley

Even the pickle jar of alcohol for rinsing chips, ha.

All the PROG boards are prepped now. Tomorrow starts the CHA boards.

Please can you upload of a video to see the advance, how to solder the chips etc.

I'm in the process of writing a build guide in the other thread. I won't be doing a full video walk-through, I neither have the time, space, or interest in it. I will tack on little videos throughout that show how to do some bits though.

Alright!

Got all the PROG boards and about half of the CHA boards prepped for sockets. Not hard, just slow work. Hopefully get through all of the remaining ones today and start installing sockets.

Going back and forth between programming and soldering/desoldering at the same time was not at all efficient, so that idea is canned and I'll just spend a day programming both S1/M1 and P roms at the same time.

I’d love an MVS one, any idea of how much shipping to U.K. is likely gonna cost?

Great work btw :)

Hey Rewrite…please add me to the waitlist!
Roughly, how far out are we looking at the moment?
Dude, welcome! Are you gonna cook up some nice shockbox art for this bad boy? 😉

Edit: Fully willing to pay for said artwork of course (and I’m sure others here would also). I already have a few of your shockbox inserts I bought from your Etsy shop and they’re awesome.

This! I actually shot him a message a while back when the whole thing started happening. Id definitely be down for a shockbox insert as well as cart art.

Sometime in Jan most likely for waitlisters. Will know better in a couple weeks. Completing 60x MVS, then 15x AES, then waitlist. I'll message when I'm ready to take deposits for carts.

About a third of the way through the P rom programming. I expect this to take a few more days. It's slow, fiddly, and sometimes you get to program 2-3x before it'll verify and dump perfectly. And I am /not/ messing around with taking chances and having to desolder them off the MVS cart to reprogram. So taking the extra time to get it right round 1.

S roms are complete.
M roms are complete.
All MVS boards are prepped (chips removed, holes cleaned).

S and M rom programming takes a degree of attention that doesn't allow one to do anything else in the meantime. Now that those are done I can start slowly socketing the MVS carts between P rom programming times.

I bribed a friend with some uncommon PCB goodness for some help, so once that's done I'll be passing off the carts to him to work on while I build and test 240 C rom boards T_T. When I get those back, it'll just be popping in C rom daughterboards and shipping. Probably be a few weeks of just making daughterboards, beeping them out, programming them, and shipping. Moderately high hopes to be done before Christmas and have everything shipped by New Year. Assuming I don't get picked at jury duty.

AES carts have arrived at the LA Sort Center, so I expect to see them early next week. I'll start programming the CPLDs and removing chips when they come in. It'll be a welcome change of pace, I'm sure.

Add me to the waitlist for the MVS cart as well. How would I pay you for the MVS cart? (I don't have a donor 161-in1 cart on me sadly).
