Let's Connect a PC to an Arcade Cab, Shall we??!!

Hdmi to vga then vga to vga ?
Rough draft maybe = PS5 > HDMI to VGA Transcoder > (Extron RGB Interface, DDSP ON) > RT5X Scart > RT5X HDMI Out > HDMI to VGA Transcoder

Just messing around with the input signal working through the RT5X from a laptop. I think it will work, pretty troll but it might be fun.

I use a Mimo Genius II with PC secondary screen set to 640x480, DVI->VGA into Mimo@240p->RGB to PVM. With something like a Jammizer you can go to Jamma from there. I'll try with a console using HDMI to VGA, but if you play TATE with M2 games I'm not sure about the stuff you see on the side when in YOKO.

I now buy all the games (that play nice on a CRT) on steam as its very easy to get a nice 240p/480i image to the cab (through a PC with Batocera 15khz script). Console downscaling gets too complicated and cumbersome very quickly.

Same but I still have a CRT Emu Driver setup :) Mame and steam in any res between 15khz and 31khz works amazing. For console stuff, the only thing I am missing mainly is Cave releases that are not on steam, you can emulate PS4 releases and Xbox360 releases to supplement. PS4 you can also throw CRT Beam Simulator on top on a modern display. 360 stuff should work on a CRT but I doubt PS4 would.

Realise im really late to the party on this one, but did you see this project i launched a couple of weeks back?
Supports a bunch of cabinets with no hardware mods needed

that project looks neat but the main utility of this to use modern PCs with JAMMA cabs. That involves Calamity's CRT Emu drivers to output 15khz video from the PC (often a specific and supported video card). and some kind of I/O device to send controls to a JAMMA loom. I don't think that's your project's aim, is it?

No sorry, i thought this thread was more generic, not specific to Jamma, sorry i didnt read properly ;( Feel free to disregard my previous post, sorry!!

Can you make JVS to be recognized as XBO360 controller ? That why capcom IO could be used to connect to PC (to JAMMA) for both controls and video. If you do that then I guess may be reach out to Batocera Team and see if the driver could be included in their build as currently Batocera is the easiest way to get 15khz out of PCs.

That basically exactly what it does. It appears as a new controller in windows. But its not a driver, it's a whole solution. Does FFB, Controls, Output Lamps etc. It probably can't be easily included, plus i am charging for this.

Gotchya, I would still reachout to Batocera and see if something could be done, it will only increase visibility of your project, may be include basic utility for free and if user wants to use advanced features like racing wheels etc then those are paid. Just my suggestion - goodluck with the project.

Yeah ive been considering something like that honestly. The fact you are just presented immediately with just a licence entry isnt ideal lol. Will have a good old think about exposing "something" up front. Thank you for suggestion, really appreciate it!! Exciting :)

3rd Strike decomp working great on Batocera 15khz, that arranged CD quality sound track is fire!

which pc to JAMMA converter have you landed on as the "best" one? I recently ordered one of the SQ arcade ones from Aliexpress but its gonna take months for it to arrive, and unsure if it's even better than the antonio villena ones which i can get a lot easier. Really looking for a nearly lag-free experience here as some of the converters ive seen add 2-4 frames of extra lag which is unacceptable for me :')

I have SQ arcade and Anotino one, both work fine but they both have a dimm signal so I ended up using Capcom JVS IO board (as video amp) and for controls I am using GP2040-CE and it works great, I have wired all my controls to DB15 and using a switch box for switching between JAMMA controls, GP2040-CE, Sega Saturn and planning to add PS2 as well.

edit: also probably your adapter us taking forever to arrive becuase UAE airspace is closed, isnt ?

Nah airspace isn't fully closed there's but limited availability though, also I tried changing the location to a US and a UK shipping forwarder address and all still had it arrive late May. Hmm I am very new to arcade cabs and I am yet to recieve one that I purchased (an astro city), won't risk shipping it til the current conflicts descalate especially around the strait of hormuz so will be a while. What exact IO board did you get and how does one use it as a video amp? Would just using the SQ arcade thing and a mikesarcade CHAMMA to JAMMA adapter and hook up the extra buttons to it?

This is how the PC, Sega Saturn console and Mister together with DB15 and Audio switch boxes sit in the arcade cab:

Yes SQ arcade would work fine, you might have to crank up the contrast knob abit and have to adjust back and forth when you switch between PC and arcade PCBs

Thanks a lot for the pics! I'm now wondering if the db15 switcher is what causes the dimming, or does the SQ Arcade do it even direct connection? Also the SQ Arcade you have (with the 2 rpis in the bottom) is different from the one i ordered which was linked in a GraveCade video, maybe the SQ arcade peeps can chime in @FunFortress Retro Game what is the difference between them? I'd like to find one with little to nodimming and least amount of input lag

DB15 is just for controls, nothing to do with video, I had a direct connection before and there was the same issue. The two small rpis are actually GP2040 boards. I havnt tried the above board.
