Hello,

I was wondering if other members would be interested in keeping a list of card edge connectors. I'm feed up with JAMMA adapters and extensions that are too tight (aka Kung-Fu grip). I initially thought Hirose was smooth but only when it has been used for years.

Anyway, these are the ones i have tested so far:

KEL 56 pin (1168-056-009) (Green) - Tight
KEL 44 pin (1168-044-009) (Green) - Tight
KEL 44 pin (1150N-044-009) (Green) - Tight
KEL 36 pin (1168-036-009) (Green) - Tight
KEL 20 pin (1150N-020-009) Green) - Tight
Hirose 56 pin (CR7E-56DA-3.96E) (Dark Blue) - Very tight
Hirose 44 pin (CR7E-44DA-3.96E) (Dark Blue) - Very tight
Hirose 36 pin (CR7E-36DA-3.96E) (Dark Blue) - Very tight
Taiwan FUTURE 56 pin (Model Number ?) (Blue) - Tight
Z JAMMA 56 pin (56P-3.96S) (Blue) - Tight
Noguchi 56 pin (Model Number ?) (Black) - Smooth
EDAC 44 pin (305-044-521-201) (Green) - Between tight and smooth

Others have talked about Noguchi, etc but I haven't tested them and don't have their model number (if they have), etc.

I took the time to go through a lot of manuals to get the connectors some old games were using. Some used a 4 mm pitch instead the more standard 3.96. The Tekhan classic games (Rygar, Bombjack, etc) has a 4 mm pitch one but Star Force uses a 3.96 mm connector. I think this list is going to make a lot of people wonder if their adapters have the correct pitch. I get that a 3.96mm will work on a 4 mm one but the pins won't align perfectly.

What's the distance between pins on these? I had 1.6mm boards spun up and the amount of solder to try to attach one of these were horrible.

Can add the Z JAMMA ones to the list.

Is there a special distributor to obtain those?

While I'm here again, I wanted to show off something I found on aliexpress but the store was sold out of:

I'd really REALLY love a few of these!

They’re available in the usual places (eBay, AliExpress, etc).

They were used on the Sentinel Supergun as well as earlier HAS units I believe.

Really easy to get boards on and off.

Model number in the picture. They’re about as tight as the Taiwan Future one.

Added, thank you. I also added the Noguchi one but don't have the model number. Does anybody know where the Noguchi can be purchased in Japan?

Try to reach out to Axun and ask. He's always sourcing the Noguchi connectors from somewhere. Most likely Alibaba.

Does EDAC make a suitable one? I find their 44 pin ones to be non excessive tension wise. Most others [44 pin] I have used are death grippy even on 1.6mm pcb.

I don't know. I thought the EDAC was really tight but never got one in my hands. I can add the EDAC 44 pin to the list. Would you rate it Very Tight, Tight or Smooth?

Another piece of information I added to the thread is the connectors that some old games were using (from their manuals). Notice that some ones had a 4 mm pitch and others 3.96 mm. I don't think people making JAMMA adapters are noticing this difference.

Somewhere between Tight and Smooth. Pretty perfect for 1.6mm pcbs.

I added as "EDAC 44 pin (307-044-500-202) (Green) - Between tight and smooth"
Let me know if this is right.
Thanks
305-044-521-201 is the one I use, the last number may increment if it has dog ears or not.
